I have recently been diagnosed with TN and have been given Amitriptyline, they have not yet started working but I have heard it takes several weeks.
I was wondering if anyone has discovered any treatment or pain relief which is effective for them? I have heard about Capsaicin cream and E-Acu pens?
Thank you
I am on amitriptyline too and have been taking the tablets for 3 weeks and have yet to notice any difference. I started on 10mg and have just increased the dose to 30 mg last night. (Increasing by 10 mg per week!) I have just got a constant ache which runs along my jaw - probably different to you. I am hoping that it will start to work soon - who knows? I really wish there was a quick fix for this!
Has anyone tried acupuncture? I was going to give this a go.
Thanks.
I took two, a couple of hours before I went to bed as after brushing my teeth it is so painful for about half an hour and two more before I went to sleep, so 40mg in total and still had a pain attack at 1.30 am, so they seem ineffective! I have also been looking at acupunture/e-acu pens and was wondering if anyone on here has used them?
Hi I tried amitriptyline years ago. I couldn`t swallow ,my mouth was so dry. Last year I had a balloon compression. Im so glad I did. I have been pain free for 14 months so far. If it comes back I can have it done again and I would do it in a heartbeat

Acupuncture gave me instant relief from temple and cheek pain, but the pain in my jaw has been consistent. I was thankful, however, to have the temple pain gone....now about a year.
