Hi, i have been prescribed the extended release version rather than standard type, is there any real difference>?
I was told that the slow release taken in the morning should give you the benefit throughout the day.
Extended release means you only have to take it once a day and the effects last
until the next dose. I actually take 2/3 of dose at night and 1/3 on waking to give
me
"boost" first thing in morning when my depression was worst. Hope it helps you.
Yes, personally I found it much better for me.
I found the normal venlaflaxine used to wash out of my system quickly due to its short half life and i started to get withdrawl symptoms during the day!
I beg to differ with the last poster about taking it in the morning. Venlaflaxine has a sedative effect and therefore is better taken at night. I took my 225mg dose with my dinner at night and i had a goo nights sleep and woke up fresh. You will need to experiment when to take it so you wake without feeling groggy.
