Electrical Shock and ECG was fine

Hello,

I received an electrical shock from the livewire connected to my cooker, I am assuming the supply is around 240v as in UK.

I touched the livewire accidentally with my two fingers on my right hand, I was stood on the kitchen barefoot floor which is tiled.

it jerked my hand back and must have been about a second or 2.

I felt the surge through my chest and like my heart skipped a beat. I also remember it going black for a split remember feeling it all happen.

I went A&E for an ECG (the one were you get plugged in for about 10 seconds or so) the Doctor said it all looked fine.

just wondering being 2 days on, what sort of things I should keep an eye out for?

Thanks.

As you have been checked out and you are OK, you shouldnt have any after effects. However if you think you are getting symptoms then go to your doctor.

Hi there Ghnc1,

I had an electric shock a few years ago that shot me across the room , I grabbed the wires accidentally as the plug back wasn’t connected and I touched the wires. I think that you might feel a bit jittery but, it shouldn’t cause any long term effects.

I agree with the comments made by Marina_ Ghnc1

Thanks Marina for your reply.

It was a complete accident. I gave the GP a call this morning who has advised to keep an eye out for any sort of palpatations/flutters/irregular beats and said to check my pulse regularly. I think the whole situation has worried me a bit!

Hi Beverley,

That sounds nasty. Did you suffer any after effects days after or where you pretty much okay? Did you also get yourself checked out? Sounds like a nasty shock.

Thanks Sarajo. I appreciate the reply.

Hi Ghnc,
No after affects and didn’t get checked out as I was younger. I was a bit jittery that day but ok. I think it would affect you that day but, you could feel anxious about it happening again.
