Electrolyte imbalance

Hi everyone. I've just had two nights in emergency. Scarey fast heart, a slight flutter and high blood pressure. Scared me! I have had 6 episodes since the op but Wed night was the first. One of the symptoms the last two times was extreme thirst. So I wondered about electrolyte imbalance. My docs will do further tests his week but in the meantime I am also doing research. Has anyone experienced anything like this??

Hi there Salts

I too have had this three times now (twice last night) BP 169/107 . . .  very scary.  Mine I am fairly certain is Heart Burn (not the type you typically think of as I have no acid reflux), I say this because I used to have it frequently when I smoked (years ago) so I am familiar with the signs (still very scary).  My PT said she could not think of anything about the operation that would cause this.  I see my doctor again on Thursday and will ask then.  In the meantime what I take is an over the counter med called Ranitidine (Zantac equivalent) but now having to take it twice instead of once.

If I learn anything I'll post it here - will you please do the same.

Be well

Interesting thanks. Check the side effects of ranitidine. I was experiencing acidic stomach and taking another over the counter zantac. A friend told me about the side effects of ranitidine. I've stopped taking the zantac and will address the acid stomach naturally. I'm not sure there is anythingon this issue. In the meantime coconut water and tissue salts and lots of water for me. There's tests they can do by the way.....

hi saltspringer,

oh, that is scary --- are you perhaps eating something that has MSG/ E621 in it ?

this additive is prohibited in USA (at least in Los Angeles where I lived for 34 years), but here in Holland it is still used in all kind of foods - I have an allergic reaction to it like you described -

let us know how you are getting on okay ....

big warm hug
