Hi this is my first time posting because im searching for answers. Last year around March i started taking a vit b spray and when i got blood work done the following month it showed my vit b12 was elevated. I took vitamin b12 up until the beginning of the year , i maybe stopped the b12 spray around end of Jan or beginning of Feb. of this year, but i sometimes would take the b complex along with my multivitamin. Each time i did a blood work during this time vit b12 comes back way over the limit. I just recently had vit b12 checked and it is still elevated although i am not taking b12 or the b complex any longer. Though i was still taking a multi vitamin. When i researched it says it could be either liver, or leukemia. Ive had liver function test done and it is always fine. I do have digestive issues like gastritis, ibs, and gerd. I dont know if this is relevant or what. But this concerns me, though my doctor didnt seem alarmed about it. But shouldnt the b12 be out of my system by now because i read that it comes out through urine. Anyone else had this kind of experience w/ liver and elevated vit b12?
Too much B12 isn’t harmful. The US and UK ranges are low compared with many countries. I doubt it is anything to do with your liver.
Hi Eric, thank you for your response. My level now is 1488 the cut off is 1100. When i look it up it gives me all these bad stuff that could be wrong. It was quite higher when i was taking the spray.
Perhaps your doctor could arrange an ultrasound to put your mind at rest. My liver ALT was elevated and my doctor wasn’t concerned. He told me it would need to be much higher to indicate cirrhosis or hepatitis although I have heard from a former alcoholic that his shows normal despite early stage cirrhosis. Your doctor should explain why he isn’t concerned if you ask him.
