Elevated white blood cell count with HS

So my Dr recently sent me to a hematologist/ oncologist because my white blood cell count has been elevated for more than a year now, after my visits with the oncologist and them running a Flow Cytometry test and being cleared of any blood disease or cancer I am left wondering if having HS is what is elevating my WBC. Any feedback on this would be helpful, I am due to go back to the oncologist and they are talking of a possible bone marrow biopsy.....just trying to avoid expensive tests and the stress to my body and mind.

Thank you

I have also experienced higher than normal WBC counts during a flare. I think its because HS is caused by an overreaction of our immune systems. I was hospitalized once because my WBC count was so high the Md thought I was septic.

That is interesting. I never thought about it but I agree with Chris on the possible cause. Please do share your findings, might help me save some money. my HS isn’t of that high intensity so I never bothered just controlling it with my diet and exercise.

If you have been dealing with HS for a very long time and it's usually severe, it's possible the high WBC coun is due to HS.

However, I would also like to add that if you have been having a lot of antibiotics and other chemical drugs to handle your HS or other conditions...it's a good idea to get a bone marrow biopsy done to check for abnormal cells and cell count.

Good luck. I hope this phases passes soon..and gets sorted quickly.
