Okay, so after my last operation and the endless waking my husband and shuffling off to the loo I wondered whether anyone made use of pads?
I will be on my own for one or two nights, and wondered if this is a solution. I suffer from very low blood pressure post surgery and fainted in the loo and various other places the firs time. I am not sure I trust myself to get there and back safely.
I appreciate this is a very embarrassing question, but we have had worse on here!!!

You can buy bed pans for women they are not expensive. Do you have a blood pressure monitor at home to keep an eye on it.
Absolutely. Go for it! I did when very immobile and in danger of falling if I rushed. ( Husband not able to help since he’s disabled.)Gave me immense peace of mind. Had no accidents, but it was really well worth it.
Whatever gets you through and you must keep safe. Absolutely go for it.
Ah bless you, my first 3 weeks at home was a dash to the loo in the night 3 times every night and with all the extra swelling it's like life and death to get to the seat in time, I didn't always make it to the seat but to the bathroom door after some obstacles such as my dog and being half asleep and in pain. Do what makes you feel better because it's a major op and quite honestly no one should care, gotta do what you gotta do!!
I had low blood pressure when I first came home . My husband would bring in my portable potty at night so all I had to do is stand up and turn and I was there . Also use the pads that really help. Just had a short nighty on too which helps
Hi 🌹 as someone else said whatever is manageable, I did buy a lady bottle when I fractured my hip and couldn't have managed without it, I could only stand and couldn't walk and with out it their would have been lots of ooops moments, better than wet feet LOL
So have you gotten an operation scheduled?
Pads or incontinence pants are a great idea to make you feel less stressed about getting to the bathroom on time. For both of my hip surgeries I also had very low blood pressure. There was no walking around the ward for me! I was lucky to get to the bathroom and back to bed, and it was in the same room as my bed. I even had a commode next to my bed for the first day or two while at the hospital.
You need to be very careful when moving around, most especially if you are alone. Do whatever works for you.

I have just seen my gp about this very thing! Day and night! My bladder and bowel have not fully recovered from the spinal block. Pelvic floor exercises are helping but pads are my life saver!
