Hi Everyone. This probably been discussed elsewhere in this forum but is a delicate subject so here goes. Too shy to ask Consultant about resuming bedroom activities and not sure what is safe to do. Obviously swinging from the chandelier is out the question, partly due to the fact we haven't got one but will 'normal service' eventually be resumed or will it always be kinda awkward 😁
Hi kaz, there has been a thread on this subject and we did discuss the why's and wherefores of the chandelier as well.
My consultant told me I could have sex from 6 weeks post op which I've done successfully with no problems but you do have to be careful with positions ........

Dear Kaz, glad you bring the subject up and it does not discussed much, but did read the idea of waiting till 6 weeks. We did not, it was more like three and all seemed to work fine, even though I was initially concerned about hurting my hip, but again,there was no problem and no pain afterwards. We did not try any antics; swinging from chandelier. It was great to be intimate again after so many months of pain and to relate in that way. An important connection with your partner when you have been so compromised and in a fragile state prior to the surgery. Hope that helps. Enjoy!
Damn! ... I reckon my better half is gonna use my duff hip as excuse to keep me at arms length for at least 6 months :DD. But seriously folks, the royal college of surgeons say there's no rules regarding when one can have sex again, just what feels comfortable and doesn't place hip in position of potential, dislocation. Of course , my wife knows better... " six months..." :'( Lol.
My surgeon gave me a paper with suggested positions and diagrams but since I cannot see without my glasses will just have to wing it. Seriously I guess whatever is comfortable should be fine, Just take it easy on your new joint. Waiting until you feel physically and mentally ready is a good thing. I am almost 4 weeks post op and not ready yet.
Same as my missus..... She now suggesting after 6 months t get my other hip done (lol)
