The ENT gave me amitriptyline to take 10 mg at night. I was wondering if anyone's taking it and having good results? I've been reading that it causes drowsiness. Has anyone had their dizziness get worse on it?
Thanks

I took 20mg before having to go off to be part of a clinical trial. It definitely helps. I also take Effexor. Just 37.5mg. I would actually try more amitriptyline when I start it back up. Seems to slow down the brain or make it more calm so the dizziness is less. There are some people who claim it took their dizziness away.
Thanks for replying. I'm so worried about meds. I'm going to cut the pill in half because I don't want to be drowsy in the morning. I pray it's ok. Thank you for sharing your good results
Taking half is a good idea. It does make you more drowsy at first and then after a week or so that's no longer a side effect. I took it at bedtime as it also helps w/ sleep (which I don't have a problem with....but nice that it helps anyways).
Hi Patty,
I was given Amitriptyline for Migraine as I suffer migraine on top of the VN. I take 20mg per day and it deifinitely helps, the only side affect is weight gain, I have put on 5lbs since starting this 3 months ago, apparently this is about the average weight gain as the websites state 2.5Kg (5-6lbs).
Best of luck
Laurence
