When i burst my eardrum earlier this year, the ENT that i saw gave me 'sofradex' ear drops to put in the eardrum. A day later, i had a terrible infection, hearing loss and terrible ETD since.
It turns out that the drops say 'do not use on perforrated eardrum' and in addition to that, they are 'ototoxic' which I hear damages the inside of the ear.
Has she messed up?
I thought ototoxic antibiotics should only be used in life-threatening emergencies after the patient is fully made aware of the consequences to the inner ear and to their hearing. I would see another ENT asap!
thanks for the response.
Is that right? If so.. I'm going to be annoyed. Do you have a link to anything that states that?
I private messaged you a couple of links. We are not allowed to post links - the moderators will delete them. I would start by googling your meidcation and googling ototoxicity as well.
