Hi Jackie, I have a friend who works for a hospital in my town and she had an epidural for pain but that was to help with pain management prior to surgery...it only lasted a few weeks.
Others ont his site might have different experiences.
Patricia from Toronto Canada
Yes. I have, Jackie. Sad to say it didn't work for me.
There again, nor did any of the many, other interventions I went through.
Hope you're luckier!

Yes I've had epidural injections for lower back pain. The injections worked but in the end I developed Avascular Nercrosis and had to have hip surgery and back surgery. Read everything you can on epidural injections and the risks. Good luck.
Hi Jackie,
I have AVN of my hip and don't want a THR at all but the orthopedic surgeons all say I have to. Are you saying AFTER you get that THR (they say is so fantastic) that you still have pain and the pain sounds worse? Sorry I can't answer your question - an epidural sounds good, after childbirth I didn't feel pain at all. Have you tried all medications for this?

Hi David, Thanks for reply I been doing some reading online and not really liking what im reading dont think im going to have the shot, so many side effects
Thanks
Jackie
Hi Edarling, Thanks for reply .. Didnt you have thr ?? If So how are you doing??
Thank You
I don't know WHY my comments are being moderated....I can't think of what I said that is wrong....here goes again....I had 2 scripts for these epidurals, after hip replacement about 2 yrs ago, I did not do them....they are temporary if they do work and I don't like steroids pumped into my body and don't like messing around the spine....
I exercise with a lot of stretching, ice and heat and use a lot of supplements and a wonderful homeopathic lotion that addresses 11 type pain areas....this is kinda saving me too, this product.....which I guess I can't mention it's name....
My friend had two of the epidural series and she has pretty advanced osteoporosis and these steroids only make that issue worse....talk about AVN....
I wear a lower back light support and knee support and foot ankle support....I do not do much that could harm me more. J
Hi dallasjody, I had surgery Last year Oct 24 , 2013 revised thr alot bone lose i couldnt even walk on my leg for 6 weeks . I kept having so much pain . My doctor sent me to neurolist for EMG test and i have nerve damage and buging disc sciatic nerve damage. These are all risk we take when we go in for surgery, I have lost my job back on disaililty , and go to physical therapy 3x week, which i think is finally helping . some medications they have giving me make me really dizzy so i just keep going to physical therpy ,walks , I dont think im going to get the injection at this time.
Jackie
Hi David, I dont think im going to get the injection too many side affects I have read about the epidural and side effects i think i will hold off at this time . This is why i come to this site really helps me
Thank you
Jackie
Hi J
Yes. Almost +4 wks now. Doing brilliantly, thanks. Walking without aids and pain under control. Total difference from previous experience.
It's taken quite some time to calibrate my Warfarin dose (for clot on lung) but that seems to be levelling out. On it til +6 mths.
Next hurdle is to decide whether to take up new surgeon's suggestion to have 3rd op on other hip, to refix cup and lengthen leg. V concerned cos have had massive nerve damage on that since 1st THR.
In meantime, enjoying best health I've experienced for 7 yrs!

Hi Joy , Im not going to have the injection too many side effects , and i think physical therapy is reaaly starting to help. Thats why i come to this site really helps me thank you again . I know what cream your talking about i use that too I used to work health food store lost my job after my surgery.
Jackie
Glad to hear that. Stay strong...
Hi Edarling, Thats the best news im so happy for you keep up the good recovery and keep me posted so happy for you
Jackie
Jackie, I know you said you worked in a health food store, so you know a lot about supplements....do you take some good bone support supplements? I can't imagine NOT doing this with all our issues from these surgeries. I preach the importance of magnesium and bone health and so glad my daughter and her 17 yr old take a good dose of mag daily. J
Hi Joy, Magnesium is my best friend i take everynight before bed and alpha lipoic acid for nerves calcium etc. Natural supplements work they just take time and its all starting to work for me im having great week feeling much better lets hope it last
Thanks again
Jackie
Jackie, it can last and ease for us, supplements FOR THE MOST PART don't do damage and I have been taking them for 25some yrs....
I'm much older and with age, things break down more anyway, but this replacement breakdown, oh geeeeeezzzzz. I'm close to doing a Prolozone injection series for my right knee, this is oxygen therapy and hoping the cell food supp which is on it's way will help with cell health too... My priorities are so changed as I need my money to keep me healthy.....medicare pays for a lot of conventional drug stuff like epidurals but they are toxic to our bodies.....our healing system is so upside down as I see it. There was just a NPR segment on opiate addiction in our country and how so many docs are cutting a lot of patients off on the opiate use....a close member of my family really got so messed up on opiate addiction.....it's awful.... J
Hi Jackie, please can I ask where your nerve pain/damage is, did you have a total THR?
