Esmya - 3 months course complete I now have a thickening of uterus lining? Is this common?

Just had my first scan after taking esmya for 3 months for a diagnosed fibroid.  The scan now reveals I have a thickening of the uterus lining.  Really worried as everything on google points to cancer.  Anyone else had the same with taking esmya?  I feel like I have created another problem for myself!  Any feedback appreciated.

Hi Joanne im on the last month of a 3 month course of Esmya, thickening of the uterus is one of the side effects of the medication, apprently once the medication is stopped the lining will gradualy go back to normal.

Hi Nicola, I will be starting my third course soon, but it seems the blooming fibroids have not shrink at all and periods during the break were horrendous! Just don't know what is next, have been told you can only take four courses so have looked at my options, can't remove the pesky things because of where they are so am left with one option or to wait for menopause (mother nature is not playing ball.....no sign yet!) or hysterectomy! I have decided to go for hysterectomy as I just want this to end!! Esmya has been such a welcome break from the bleeding and pain!

Hi Nicola, Thank you for your reply.  Yes it seems so, my GP has however arranged a biopsy which has terrified me.  My fibroids have shrunk slighlty but not enough for key hole surgery.  I am now concerned I have cancer of the womb, I feel very anxious.  How are you feeling on the medication?

Am hearing you Barbara,  I am the same absolutely at my wits end with it all.  Wish I had opted for the hysterectomy when I was first diagnosed - just never ending.  How long did it take after your first course of esmya for yur period to return & did you suffer thickening of the lining too?  Thanks & good luck.

Hi Barbara

At my last Gynocology appointment I was told that it can take 4 rounds of Esyma for the Fibroid to shrink. So maybe it can still work for you.

My gynecologist mentioned something about the lining but tbh I have reached a decision and just want them out, like you I wish I had not left it until they are so big as now saying I can't have laparoscopic as too big so am waiting for date to have TAH. It took about 28 days after finishing Esmya for my period to start, first month was dreadful......but second one was off the scale, by far the worst experience I have had in the "lady dept"! My friend had a hysterectomy and said she wishes she did not wait so long, she looks so well now......hind sight is a great thing!

Not much fun being female sometimes hey!! Good luck to you too, do you have any ideas about your options or what you want to do?

Barb x
