I am 66 yrs. old...In 2001, I had to have an emergency hysterectomy, due to excess bleeding and other complications...my doctor immediately put an estrogen patch on me as soon as the surgery was over...It has been 13 yrs. and I haven't had a minute's trouble with the patches.
Now, my insurance Co. is refusing to pay anything on the patches, so my doctor prescribed 1mg. of Estradiol to be taken every day. I started on them last week, but only half a pill...Now, every morning I'm nauseated, gassy, stomach and headache...I have a call into my doctor, and I told her that I'm not taking any more of that stuff...I felt horrible...feelings of being pregnant at my age...lol....Have any of you tried this drug, and if so, are you happy with it...Im totally done with it...Thank you
Hi Carole
oh bless you hun.. Why do they change people when it suits.. Why cant yojr Doc give you the patch..
dont know where you live, but it sounds unfair ..
i take it the 1mg are tablets ? You didnt say, and they go via liver and are upsetting you.. Patches far safer they say..
Estradiol alone is not recommended for women with a uterus normally, so maybe its given for women who have had a full hysterectomy.. Not sure..
i only use the Estriol Ovules & Cream vaginally ( Estriol is a weaker Estradiol) and its only for vaginal dryness..
i really feel for you carole, as if we dont have enough to go through..
big hugs

Thank you, Jay...Hugs back to you...Today I didn't take a pill so I feel back to my old self...
I've been off of estrogen all together around three weeks now...Usually once or twice a day, I feel like my mood is sinking to the floor...nothing serious, just a very lonely feeling, even with people around or on the phone..is this normal until I get used to having no estrogen after 13 yrs. of being on Vivelle Dots...
