Hello just wanted to ask if anybody is on the Estrogen Patch .025. I have been on it for about 5 months helps me with mood swings and hot flashes and I also dont feel tired. The only question i had is has someone gotten a sore throat? I am asking because i just dont know if its allergies or side effects of the patch. Thank You

I thought that it was just me; tryed a few things and sore throat. I don't think it's the throat but I do think that the thyroid gland is involved somehow, my gut feeling is that the oestrogen directly impacts the thyroid gland, if hormones are out of wack, i.e. progesterone it very low, and oestrogen is not then the thyroid can become affected. There is so much more to this than I trully understand. I think that the thryoid reacts, possible swelling(symptoms of low thyroid) causing the symptoms of a sore throat. I usually get earpain too, (inner earpain). Trouble is that it is a fine balancing act taking HRT etc.
I also find that when oestrogen levels are up, my hair shedding increases - I can't win. I know I need hormones it's just what, when and how.
Adrenals can also become fatigued which I feel is anther thing that is overlooked.
I won't bore you with my thoughts on all of this.
All very well looking at blood test results but there is much more to this than meets the eye.
Do you find that you have also started to shed more hair? My guess is that you need progesterone too?
No you're not imaging the sore throat thing, it's just something a little more complex - I think!

Before I forget - liquorice tea may just help you, very soothing and aids adrenal glands. Boosts levels of cortisol. (Google liquorice if you find some time). The sweet stuff is not so good, i.e. sweets in a bag. (yummy though they are).
Lastly liquorice also helps sooth a sore throat.

Hello thanks for your response. Oh wow yes i also get inner ear pain! You are probably right its the thyroid gland. Its funny that you say that but i just went to doctor she ordered blood work for my thyroid gland. Yes losing alot of hair and i do have liquorice tea i havent taken it consistently but i will start. Yes i have also read that if you are on estrogen i will need progesterone also Thank you for not making me feel crazy LOL.
Hello Karen ok so i am not the only one. If you see comment below from Highlands51 i think she is right it could be thyroid gland even doctor mentioned it to me today and ordered blood work for it. Thanks for your comment.
Ah, interesting stuff. I thought it was just me as well, as my doctor ( a few actually)..said blood tests are fine, "Are you depressed?" - Apart from wishing to scream, it's standard thing.... must be time to treat you with anti-depressants.
Problem is though that blood tests are not always reliable; TSH value is not always a reliable indicator of what the body needs. There is so much more to this.
My guess is that your progesterone is low, and I would very carefully raise levels, which in turn will help thryoid function. - I mentioned Adrenal glands, which is why the liquorice will help, but any "adaptogenic" herb can help. I think from personal experience liquroice is brilliant. Taken for a few months it can really help.
Please note, that I have no medical training etc, I read and digest, then try things. It's the only way I can cope. I confess that I have little faith in most doctors etc these days.
