Eustachian Tube problem. Constant painful swallowing/crackling

Have had painful swallowing on the right side for about 4 weeks now. This began around the time I had a mouth infection and some earache, but that cleared up. However the painful swallowing has remained. Went to my GP last week and he said it was a inflammation of the Eustachian Tube, prescribed me antibiotics. However the pain is there a week later, seems the same to me. Only when I swallow or if i try to pop my ears, like with the VM, its really bad. I also notice a lot of crackling in that same ear too, feels like suds in my ears when i move my ear muscles

Just wondering if others have had similar problems and how long does it take to clear up ??

What is your age?  If you have ever smoked, how many a day and for how long?  What are the details of the "mouth infection" that you had, and which side was it on?  Was the infection tooth related?

I don't know what VM stands for...

41 year old male. I quit smoking ten years ago, ten a day habit. Good health in general

The mouth infection was on the same side,  like an ulcer, which ended up causing some ear pain on that side too, about 2 weeks ago.

VM is the Valsalva Maneuver which i read about online, people use it to clear blockages in the ear canal. It was quite painful so would confirm that the issue is in the ear canal
