I've just picked up a prescription for Evista , would love some feedback from those who are using this medication. I have previously been on forsteo 6 months, great gains , followed by 4.5 years fosamax, lost gains!!, strontium ranelate for 2 months, didn't suit. A Bit worried about the stroke/ blood lot cautions with evista but don't have a history of these conditions - but then who knows!!
Any feedback, positive or negative very welcome.

I am in Australia, Carol, and the only one of those you mentioned available here is fosamax. Are you saying fosamax did not help? I cannot help with Evista unfortunately. Others may be able to though. Anything you can tell me about fosamax would be appreciated.
Hello Kathleen. I was prescribed fosamax after forsteo in order to preserve the gains achieved with this anabolic drug. I took fosamax for 4.5 years (it is not recommended to take for much longer than this)and it appeared to be doing the job for a while. I did not have any bad side effects with fosamax and I understand that there are many who benefit from it - we are all different and, unfortunately, no one med suits all. There's lots of infoout there on the Internet to sift through.

Yes I have been researching. Also, I saw an oral specialist who told me the fosamax was safe for three years for teeth extractions and after that there is a test if you need an extraction called CTX which is a blood test. The same principle applies for other medications for osteoporosis and teeth extractions. I also have issues with swallowing so will have the fosamax changed into a liquid by a special compounding chemist.
