Example Diet :: Orlistat

Hi all

So glad to have found this place, I've been discussing it with my doctor and we're going to give it a go. I've been researching low fat/low cal diets and everything I've seen is merging into one and confusing me. Can you give any hints as to what is good from experience?

Thanks.

[also - very daft question, but are any spreads (ie - marge types) good as I can't have dry bread sandwiches! It's the only thing I really can't cut back on)

Thanks again

flora do a lighter than light spread, light purple tub.

I was told my my Dr not to worry to much about calories and just stick to concentrating on the total fat content.

Like you I also cannot have dry sarnies luckily with this low fat diet you can have ketchup, piccalilli and the like in your sandwiches, just don't go to mad.

Remember to look at the fat content on packaging and try and make sure the total fat content is under 5kg per 100kg's.

Most packs also put on individual fat content so it is easy to work out when preparing a meal.

have lots of fresh fruit and veg to bulk out a meal also I get dried prunes and apricot for nibbles in between meals if I'm feeling peckish.

Another good thing to get in is snack a jacks, they do savoury as well as sweet ones, go ahead bars and Special K bars for desserts as well as fat free yoghurts.

I have also found that hotcross buns are low in fat as well as soreen (fruit loaf) and they are very nice to finish a meal off with.

Good luck when are you starting?

Also I would recommend a fortnightly weigh in with the practice nurse to monitor you and answer any question/concerns you may have

Hey smile

I'm going to start next Monday, having this week eating the rubbish (well - not rubbish, I didn't have junk in the house - but the stuff that isn't as low fat as it should be) and then start after doing the new shop of good things and start as I mean to go on.

Thank you very much, I do eat a lot of fruit already, I adore grapes and banananananananas and mixed fruit and stuff - and lots of fruit salad, it's just the veg. don't like snackajacks but I love ryvita so every cloud... smile

Thanks again for your help - and good luck to you too smile

Just want to chime in here and wish you all the best for the days ahead....no need to do without a spread...Flora extra light as Suza says is fine...a little of it though. For breakfast I toast wholemeal bread (I don't eat white) and put sliced bananas on top....no spread at all. I also toast Soreen slices and eat them as they are...no spread....they are scrumptious.

Hope all goes well for you.
