Exausted

at 4 months post op I have had my busiest day yet. Arrived at work by 7.45. 26 mile drive there, did the long Saturday shift, much of it as the lone on call worker, finished at 3.45 and drove home. Had a cup of coffee then went to an early evening garden based supper, not BBQ. Home now, feet up. Feeling pleased with myself, no pain, just very tired. Best of all I know my gait has improved during the last week

Well done I am nearly 13 weeks, and I still do days when I feel the scar stinging when I do to much. I am hoping to have my other hip done in the autumn,

I had a rthp on 11th may, what sort of work do you do?

I am a biomedical scientist in the microbiology lab in the hospital where I had my op

Hope they treated you well lol I had my op in spire hospital Norwich by Mr Nolan who is a top hip man in Norwich and when the daily mail listed the top hip surgeons and he was twelfth next op will be done in the Norfolk and Norwich hospital he said both hips were bone on bone _ ouch lol

Does this follow with a day off?!!

Good to hear, this is my pace of life and at 5 weeks I'm looking forward to getting back there 😀

Yes a day off tomorrow, but then I am out for most of it. Work on Monday, two days off (busy ones), then two days at work then. Weekend away

I have just taken retirement, still getting used to it, though I have plenty to keep me going, knitting, x stitching gardening reading and computing I like playing hidden objects game

I did retire from full time, but went back for 3 days a week. But then in the NHS there are the weekend rotas, so some weeks it is 4 days. Still enjoy it and find it interesting

I was a cashier in Morrison's supermarket and I got fed up of very rude customers but as far the supermarkets managers were over my op they treated me really well

Hi Marilyn, small world! I'm a Spires, Norwich, Mr Nolan patient.  Second hip done 14 days ago. He's left the bottom of my scar a bit tight this time plus he tends to enjoy the clipping process!  I had 30 clips this time!

just waiting to get back on my static bike today.

when I saw him at five weeks last time, he said, just get back to doing everything you did before! I was sitting on horse at four weeks and riding, slowly, at five.  He's a great surgeon!

As a back room girl  I do not come into much contact with the patients, just their offerings for analysis! Yes my managers were great, I synced my days with my husbands for the first weeks on the days he was doing normal hours, so he could drive

where abouts are you, i live in cromer, i met up with gillcat and we have become great friends, also it would be nice to meet up with you, i haven't tried my static bike yet, bit of a scaredy cat me thinks lol, my 2nd hip hopefully will be in sept or october because according to the letter he sent my doctor  dated 7th july he was planning to do this 2 months time but at the good old N &N this time, which i dont mind

Hi Maggie! I know the feeling! I am utterly exhausted too! I wish I had never had my hip done! Owing to myself being full of anxiety and being a full time carer for my disabled Husband! He is severely sighted, deaf and also has very poor mobility as well owing to oa of lumber spine, hips and knee's! When I am out and about with my Husband, I guide him, with me but its put pressure on mythe hip op side.My knee's will need doing at some point, but I am sooooo scared of future ops!! I am very tearful at the best of times! I am having reflexology and jacuzzis as often as I can.regards Amanda

Was a bit stiff first thing today but no real pain. Having a fairly peaceful afternoon having done some minutes for one of the committees I am on. Read of Sunday paper and then get a meal ready for when my husband gets back at 9. The other thing I must do is wrap a birthday pressie for a friend at work. I know I have some way to go yet but can honestly say that I am very glad I had the op.
