Excellent article about Menieres

Check out "Betahistine and the treatment of Menieres" from Dovepress.  It is the most thorough article I've yet read.  It covers etiology, course, treatment - everything!

I have tried to view this article... Any chance you can post it... As would not open up for me.

lynne,

I'll give it a try.

I just copied and pasted  "Betahistine and the treatment of Menieres" from Dovepress in my search bar and found it.  Thank you for the article

Thanks Karen.  I couldn't figure out how to get the article copy and pasted.

I have read the article and admit to not understanding a lot of the pharmacological information. The article seems to suggest it has greater benefits than have been shown in previos studies of the drug.

I took Betahistine when I suffered severe and recurrent attacks and am not sure whether I derived benefits or not. What did help was abalation of my cochlea with Gentamicin. Whilst I do not have attacks now I still seem to have problems with cerebral adjustment (3 yeras after) with balance and some dizziness. I also have developed chronic stress symptoms which I do not seem able to shake off.

I guess the question in my mind is would Betahistine benefit me now, I really do not know? So are there any clever or people with experience taking the drug that have an opinion?

I lave this article. So clear and professional. Finally answers on my questions. I am so sorry that could not see it before.

My personal experience with Bethastine:

My axident was two years ago and all simtoms of MD statted

right away. As pretty knowledge person with coople of degrees I did my resarch and diagnosed MD to myself two month after.

ENT than diagnised BPPV.

My GP diagnosed MD five month after axident and pescriged me Bethastine 3 times a day 16 mg. I was vomiting my sold.

Could not handle it, so I stop taking it and only used it as

needed , as per ENT , which is normal for BPPV. 3 weeks ago

finaly I was send to hospital where after set of tests diagnoses with MD ahd prescribed Betahestine 8mg 3 times a day . It was

helping , but I was vomiting once a while. Less than before, but still. Two days ago,got drop attack and spin for couple of hours ,

so took extra peel and gess what ? I was vomit again.

Article clearly said patients were treared with low

Dozage 8mg twice a day ; it means 16 mg a day.

Conclusion, I was overdose I supposed to take 16 mg a day .

I will try it for while and let you guys now. Have you guys free of

spin day. Good luck

About stress, you can not reduse it with Bethastine and article

clearly suggesting do not overuse antidepressants as it can be

addicted . I think that best solution is yoga and meditation.

It easy to people to say "try to avoid stress".

In real life no one care. I neded to each one of my three teen ager sons make interigetion what do you know about my deasese?

Tell me in you own words what is drop attack?

They didn't know. Didn't understand. And they intelegent , study

At University, all three of them. So I did something else, I

discribed them drop attack in my own simple words:" Drop

attack can be compared overdricking person, who can not

control his body when his mind is totaly clear ." We need to try to explain what is going on with us to people ,who we lave and

surrounding us.

Thanks for article. I could barely dare to think about the poor cats in the testing.

I am taking 18my betahistine 3x per day and u wonder if this is now too much. How do I know?

As I understand, it is only you and you body can unswerving you. If you feel ok, do not change anything. The article said that

Bethastine affects blood pressure, I do having low blood

Pressure, high dossage makes me vomit.

Yesterday tryed 16 mg, it seems ok . Need to see for couple of

weeks. I hope it helps.
