I've been suffering from excessive belching which started right after I was prescribed antibiotics for an infection in a finger. As the symptom continued after the course I was tested for h. pylori which was positive and so another course of antibiotics + PPI started. I must say I felt even worse after that, adding upper abdominal pain and heaviness. I've noticed this is especially bad after poo, I start burping non-stop and end up so tired that I need to rest in bed sometimes takes a couple of hours, but it is also bad after eating or drinking. GP says I need to wait to rebuild my good bacteria colony and prescribed omeprazole which has calmed the upper abdominal heaviness, but the area is still gassy and belching became worse. I haven't had reflux. Anybody has experienced something similar? can't wait to get my before life back, I can't even walk sometimes as this triggers belching awfully.
Hi! I’ve been dealing with upper abdominal heaviness too and for me, medication isn’t helping much. I was diagnosed with gastritis and was put on PPI’s but I don’t really have any other reflux symptoms either. Just the upper abdominal discomfort and belching. Also, I lost weight and had nausea in the beginning but not anymore. It’s been three months now and I’m really worried tbh.
What are the symptoms for h. pylori?
Hi, my only symptoms before the test were excessive belching and feeling full quickly… I had also some constipation issues. I didn’t have pain until I took the antibiotics for h. pylori. Ever since my condition has deteriorared at the point that even walking is a challenge, I spent most of the time in bed. I started losing weight but that’s normal as I am eating much less than before. I haven’t had nausea at all.
The GP thinks it’s the damage to my stomach linning and the destruction of good bacteria, I need to wait three more weeks to be assessed again.
I was worried about being misdiagnosed as I’ve read everywhere that half of the world population would test positive even if the bacteria is not the reason of the issues, so a coexistent condition might being overlooked… but I was told to wait ![]()
Thank you for your reply!!!
Yeah I’ve been having some constipation issues as well. I’m not sure what caused my gastritis because I was not on any anti-inflammatory meds before this started and I don’t think I was THAT stressed either. So the only reason I can think of is h. pylori but my doc just prescribed meds and asked me to take them for a month when I’ve been taking those meds for three months now. I’ll really have to push for a h. pylori test but I’m not sure why they’re not willing to do it lol
I’ve been so stressed over this constant abdominal discomfort to the point that I’m always aware of it. It’s annoying to say the least.
