Thanks. I take D3 everyday. I'm do not take anti depressants. I don't take any prescription medications. The Dr said my calcium levels are too high.
I have suffered with this for half of my life at least I am totally affected by this. I get palpitations. I get myself crazy. blood-pressure rises. And there is not one doctor out there that knows what the hell is going on with people like us. By the way The Botox does help some find a good neurologist that will do it and if they bill it correctly insurance will pay for it. I have gone to a hypnotist Accupuncture neurologist endocrinology internal medicine Nobody seems to know anything. I did get that this is the problem that is under the umbrella of dysautonomia Also known as an auto immune proplem. INothing works
Thanks for ur help
Thanks for ur help
Hell. I am 73 and this excessive sweating started about 6 mets ago. I am so embarrassed my hair drips it runs down my face my neck is soaked. Please tell me what I can tell my dr. As he doesn't have a clue what's causing it
Oh Lucy that sounds like me. I have no idea when it's going to hit me
I am 74 and have been sweating my my head down to my chest. I think it's due to hormones and sometimes it comes on if I am anxious. The Dr. told me the calcium count is high and switched my blood pressure meds.
I really don't take it as I don't have "high" blood pressure. Perhaps it's food or drinks that create the sweating. The Doctor said come back in
three months. Ask to have your blood workup include hormone level of estrogen/progestron. Don't know what else I can tell you.
I was prescibed Lyrica which I believe is for fibromyalgia. You may want to ask your doctor about that. Did not work for me BUT it can be successful.
When I go to a formal event, I take a small blow dryer and flat iron. My cardiologist said that going from extreme heat to air conditioning which will bring that on. Air conditioning believe it or not kicks mine up. He told me if I am outside and the heat becomes too much, go into the shade and try and lower your temperature before you got into air conditioning.
I would like to know what that "gadget is you were talking about. I bought a cooling pillow which helped a bit at night. I could go on and on but seriously depressing. I'm still looking!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay cool - breath, put those cooling towels around you neck - that does help. I take sometimes three "COLD" showers which lower my temperature.
I;m late to this forum posting but have the same issue! My face, head drip rivers at the slightest exertion or warm atmoshere. Sweat will drip down my back when I'm just putting on makeup. I don't have FibroM. but do have chronic back pain so I do feel sweating is somewhat related to the body's effort to deal with constant pain. Mine too gets worse every year to where I am now off work due to the pain and the sweating that made me have to leave trainings and seminars etc if the rm was warm before everyone noticed my hair getting flatter and my face wetter. I looked into the drug you all mentioned called glycopyrrolate but it seems to interact with a huge number of other meds including about half of the meds I currently take. That sucks! Didn't anyone else run into that issue?
My sweats are related to a hormone imbalance or just plain anxiety that might be effect adrenal glands or parathyroid. Who knows. When I feel my head getting warm I sit back and deep breath for oxygen intake. Take great natural supplements and vitamins. Try to avoid certain foods that are not good period.
No pharmacy drugs for me. Exercise helps. Guess I'm doing ok
hello - I read with sadness to see the same horrible sweating head facial sweating - if any one has done the surgery called bilateal sympathectomy please email me. thank you all . I tried the glycopyrratate and my mouth got so dry I couldn't speak. Heaven help us. We will figure this out - I know we will - all of us. Diana
I am glad this works for you but I can say I know it does not work for everyone. I am 36 years old and when I sit in an air conditioned house I still have a fan pointed at my head. I work and a lot of the time outside so I have to adapt. I do use bandanas but I go through about 15 or more a day and that is only because there is not enough time to swap them out as much as needed. I think they are soaked in about 5 minutes and then it is steaming down my face yet again. this can be in the middle of winter as well. I'm not sure what to do about it but it is all I have for now.
Hi Gill,
I am a 64 yr old woman who has suffered for many years from head sweats. My underarm sweating is not really too bad but as soon as I get hot, my head sweats rapidly and my hair is soaked.
I had a heart attack last December and am on a lot of drugs as a consequence, but the head sweats were going on long before that. I am almost a stone overweight at 11 st 9lb. I dread Summer. I spend a lot of time indoors with an electric fan.
It could be the adrenal glands not working properly or a para thyroid problem but you would need to discuss with your Doctor. I'm convinced it is a hormones issue. I've had the same issue for years but it's better now for some reason. I drink less alcohol for one and started exercise to help me relax. All the best.
I literally thought I was going mad I'm 46 I've been like it for years
I can't get ready to go anywhere I'm constantly drying my hair, it causes my
eyes and nose to constantly drip like a tap.
I can't do something simple like hover without looking as if I've been out in the rain
It causes so much problems in my relationship i won't go anywhere because of this
it will take me all day to get ready but I'm never ready.
I've constantly got a fan on weather winter/summer
I can't have the heating on in my house in the winter I litrally can't bare it
everyone else is freezing. I put makeup on it constantly runs off my face
It's really embarrassing I would give anything for this to go away.
Hormones. Thyroid. Parathyroid. Adrenal glands. Could be anxiety. Something is triggering the sweats. I am on and off but wonder if it's stress or food or drink that is the cause. Ask Doctor to get tested for all of the above. Write down what you eat each day then eliminate one item per day and see how you do. Light on salt but not to stop salt. Body needs it.
I have excessive sweating from the head and face. Running down my body. I cannot use makeup or go to my meetings.i am a member of the Royal Canadian legion and when I got to our meeting everyone wonders what the heck is wrong. Same as playing darts. It's embarrassing. I seem to be fine if I do nothing but any exertion at all bring on the gigantic sweating frenzy. My doctor has no clue. I am in my early 70 and this just started about 6 Months ago. I am at my wits end.
I'm late to this thread too but like you Dave I suffer the exact same way! I DREAD hot weather and find that even light exersise (or work - such as hoovering for gods sake!) makes my face (and whole head) feel like it's been ducked in a bath full of water.
This last weekend I went to a festival with the wife, I eagerly watched the weather leasding up to the event knowing that hot days would be a disaster!
Well guess what, it was 2 of the hottest days on record for the time of year and area so I took some time to really 'study' this hideous affliction! I noticed
That NO ONE else sweats like me! I was at a festival with thousands of people and I made it my mission to look at as many brows as I could over the course of the 3 days we were there. I saw ONE other person who had as much sweat on his brow/head/hair as much as me, he was severely overweight (which I'm not saying WAS causing his problem but I figure it more than likely) I am not, I'm 6' 2" and weigh about 16.8 Stone, i'm no waif but I'm not overweight either.
This is not an exxageration! I saw just the ONE person.
Everyone seems to enjoy the sun more than me (presumably because they dont sweat profusely from their head!) and I watched people actually 'choose' to sit in the sun rather than the shade where me and a few others found some respite from the sun.
I feel for you and everyone here, I HATE being like this, I want it to change so much!
I am 45 had Cranial Hyperhidrosis for past 20+ years. Hot weather, exertion or just being nervous causes a fountain to switched on the top of my head. This condition affects every part of my life including the kinds of job I can do. Tried every cure in the book with no effect what so ever. Until 2 weeks ago I got my Doctor to prescribe Oxybutynin and its just beyond belief. I am normal person again. Walking 6 miles in 30 degrees without any sweat, did an interview for new job and no sweat .....its just totaly changed my life!! I just hope it works for others as well.
Thanks Brian, I had noticed this name pop up several timnes in this thread and after seeing your post this morning I have rung my doctor...
I await his return call, and I will ask him straight.
Thanks again, I'll let you know how I get on!
