Okay - so I have been dealing with the issue of excessive vaginal discharge for about 10+ years, have seen multiple doctors, got all the STD screening several times, and every-time, i was told - "it's normal for some women - there is nothing you can do". All my test always came back negative and I thought maybe it was something in my diet (nope - doctors told me thats not possible) and then I switched to only cotton underwear, thinking maybe i'm suffering a material sensitivity from my underwear - nope - nothing worked. For the past 10 years, I have had to wear panti-liners every day that I would change every couple of hours or so or the consequence was unbearable - I felt like I needed a diaper! But every doctor, every test - said - "it's normal". Well - IT'S NOT. And I FINALLY figured out what the problem was and i'm quite peeved that I had to figure this out on my own with zero medical background rather than all the professionals making six figures.
So what was it? Answer: Trichomoniasis - "the most common and most easily treated STD in north america" - that is NOT INCLUDED in STANDARD STD SCREENING. Well...1 week of metronidazole (antibiotic), and my issue that I thought I was stuck with for life resolved in about 3 days and never returned. Just WOW - at the health industry. Apparently they believe since 75% of the population who has contracted the infection, do not experience symptoms, and the longer term health affects being minimal - that awareness of the STI is not needed and to do so would just cause unnecessary lab/health resources. Yeah, well - caused me enough grief to take time out of my day and write on a forum about it.
Anyway - excessive discharge can be caused by many things - but if you (like me), have tried every single thing under the sun and have doctors consistently tell you "you are normal" - maybe request a test for Trichomoniasis - a simple swab test - it's worth it.
Sincerely
