Hi everyone,
I'm just over 7 weeks post op now and I'm still not walking unaided without a limp.
I've been wondering whether I could do a few minutes on the cross trainer each day to try and build some strength?
I don't want to rush things but I've only got another 4 weeks off work so I feel as though I should be progressing a little quicker than I am.
Hope everyone is ok 😊

Hi Jacqui,
stationary cycling is is ok from week 6 but make sure the seat is high enough to maintain 90 degree hip precautions. Low impact from week 8 and swimming too, once your wounds are completely healed. No breaststroke for up to 12 months though. Hope this helps.
i am 5 weeks post of from simultaneous bi lateral and put on lots of weight can't wait to get back to exercising.
Bernie
Thanks Bernie,
I've only got a recumbent bike which I can't quite get under 90 degrees. Will wait until next weekend when I'm 8 weeks and try the cross trainer then 😊
Hi Jacqui,
Probably the only way to know is to do a little and back off if it causes problems. I understand why you feel pressured to progress more, but in my experience your body will ultimately tell you when it is ready.
Good luck and let us know how you do with it.
Hugs,
L
Hi Jacqui. I believe that the stationary bike will be fine. Sorry, can't remember what stage to try this. So much info to recall. I have been having back issues too so finding that Aqua fit helps. My PT told me to avoid the cross trainer but I can't recall why.
Good luck with finding the right exercises to get stronger.
Take Care,
Cathy
