Hi everyone.
I am a 25 year old man and for the last 3 weeks i have had problems with my joints. Firstly about 4 weeks ago my knees started to hurt at top of my knee caps and also I had numbness of finger. Later I was also fatigued and still am with mild fever. Also my hand joints are swollen and a few of the knuckles have small red painless bump on them.
I will ad some photos. Could anyone tell me if those are signs of an early RA.
Thanx
Please, get tested for Lyme Disease...and by a Lyme Specialist. You have the classic symptoms of Lyme
Hello . Have you had a rash? With Lyme Disease you usually start with a rash. You do have some symptoms of RA though. Because it's auto immune you can get a fever especially when your joints are swollen. The deformity in your fingers in particular resemble RA. You need to see your GP and ask for a referral to a rheumatologist. He will probably want to run some blood tests as well but the referral is the most important thing. Don't settle for less.
You do not need a rash to be infected with Lyme. My son never had a rash, and he has Lyme. I would not be convinced you don't have Lyme unless a Lyme Specialist tells you that you don't have it. I don't hold much stock in any other kind of doctor telling you that you don't have it. They don't know enough about it. Be diligent in your quest for answers.
Well I have a rash under on my eyelid and I am a bit red on nose and cheeks. This summer I spend a lot of time in the forest , but didn`t notice any rash of the tick bite. Could it be also connected with Lupus?
Oh yes, most definitely. If you merely google search lyme and RA or Lyme and Lupus...you will find much info on others who suffered with these conditions, among other idiopathic diseases, who actually had undiagnosed, untreated Lyme. The good news is that most people respond very favorably - even make full recovery - with proper treatment (usually antibiotics)
ante if you've had a rash then it's possibly Lyme Disease and you need to see a specialist. You just need a definite diagnosis so you can start treatment as soon as possible whatever is wrong.
I have made an appointment for tomorrow. Also in the last days I noticed I have a stiff neck and slight paralysis of the neck muscles and also a painful bump in my left ear and trouble sleeping at all. Is it possible I am in the severe neurological state of lyme disease.
Good luck ante. Let us know how you get on.
Went to the doc, and gave blood for IgG and IgM. The results will be in a week, but when I showed him my hand joint abnormality, he said that should not be from lyme disease. I think the waiting till the results come is the hardest thing, apart from ringing in the ears and constant fever.
Hello ante. Sorry you are having to wait. I did wonder about the joints in your hands. I suppose it's possible it could be RA. Did he do a blood test for RA do you know?
No just tests for lyme. When Igo back in week i will ask him to do test for RA as well.
Thanks for your support.
