Has anyone experienced extreme sleepiness or tiredness on amlodipine??
i take it in the morning before work, and a few hours later I can't keep my eyes open and feel drained. Even after a good nights sleep.

Bogannons,
I felt tired and drained when I first started taking Amlodipine which eased off after a few days, but by that time I was struggling with swollen, painful legs and constant nausea. After a few weeks I saw my GP again and he prescribed Adizem 120mg twice a day which seems to be doing the trick and although I still get swollen ankles it is bearable with.
I would continue the Amlodipine for about a month and if there is no improvement in your side effects then see your GP against no to find something which doesn't give e you uncomfortable side effects.
Hope that helps a bit.
Kathryn
Thank you kathryn, i have been on it for almost a year now. The tiredness seems to be getting worse. I have an appt with my gp. Was wondering if anyone else experienced the same symptom.
The proble is, many who take amlodipine, take other medications and have medical problems, so it is hard to pinpoint amlodipine as the culprit.
I will say, I managed on amlodipine for a year, before the problems started getting very bad. Some people it affects immediately, others over a period of time.
I take eight medications a day and I take them just before bed, so I don't feel any effects.
Hi there,
I to have suffered taking amlodopine, most people I know that are on it have no side effects! All I can say is that from what I have learnt all bp medication has side effects I think it is just which one suits you. My GP wanted me to stay on it for at least 6 - 12 weeks to see if side efffects settle down but tiredness was one of them. Do inform you GP that you are struggling and that way if you do want to change they should work with you.
best regards.
Thank you soo much for your input.
