I've been on citalopram for years now. Suddenly I'm having terrible burning in my eye with a throbbing pain behind it. At times I have shooting pain in my eye and temple. It radiates to around the eye and at times I feel my eye is bulging. No one can see anything and my doctor has never mentioned ed that citalopram could be causing it!!!
Hi Gloria
If you have been on Citalopram for years it can't be that and I've never heard of that. It could be a migraine I would check with your doctor or pharmacist
It was the citalopram. According to the optnamologist that treated me with laser iridology, I was well on my way to developing glaucoma and it is a direct side effect of the medication. All of the symptoms I was suffering from can be found under serious side effects. It's a shame it took 3 years and so many doctors to get someone to listen! He said if it had been left any longer the vision loss could have become permanent. After treatment my vision is no longer blurry, the floaters are greatly reduced and almost imperceptible. The burning has stopped. The sensation of the eye bulging was due to fluid building up inside at the front of the eyeball.
Oh wow I didn't realise it could do that. I suppose it's rare but at least If anyone on here has them symptoms we should get checked up. I'm hoping to just stay on these meds for 6 months in all
Glad you got it sorted Gloria
