So I was wondering if it was possible I could have caught genital herpes from my boyfriend who has facial herpes. There was no oral sex but two things concern me. The first is that he touched my genitals, although every time he has touched his cold sore he washed his hands, but he was asleep and just woke up when I got there so he may have accidentally touched it? The second is that he put his saliva on his penis before entry, and I don’t know if that can pass it on. His cold sore is on the corner of his mouth and is scabbing up but not fully healed yet. Could I have caught genital herpes? What are the chances?
You can definitely catch HSV1 genitally. Do not let him use saliva again. Wait 6 weeks and go get a blood test done if you dont have an outbreak within 2 weeks. Try not to worry too much!
