I had a totql right hip replacement in April '14 everything was going well with my recivery and I was begining to enjoy life again. Then three weeks ago whilst walking along a canal bank I stumbled, felt a click and was unable to put weight on my right leg and was in excrutiating pain. I was taken to A & E for a x-ray and was told that I had not dislocated my new hip and there was no fracture and that my pain was muscle/ligament pain and would get better and I should walk on the hip and push through the pain. The pain has improved but it hurts loads when I sit and is relived when I stand up. Should I make an appointment to see my consultant and get it checked out?
I would think so. Three weeks is a long time to see little improvement. I wonder if physio would help, repeat x-Rays might be an idea in case something got missed
I think I would either contact my GP or Consultant and get it checked out again. Can't do any harm. Other than that hope your feeling better soon Love Gillxx
yes. I definitely would. My consultant told me yesterday to come back sooner rather than later if there is any problem.
Yes!! Get it checked out and Xrayed ...No Brainer!! Ian .
Yes Sue
Like all the others....I saw get yourself to your GP or consultant ....whichever you can see first

When you have that qut question it probable wouldn't hurt to go to gp
Hi Sue ...
I agree ... make an appointment with your surgeon and ask for an x-ray or some other test to make sure that nothing else is going on ...
i am not sure about the pushing through pain ater THR ..pain is the body letting you knwo that you are straining or putting too much effort in something that still needs healing ...
take it easy and be gentle with your self ...

Hi Sue,
A similar thing happened to me about 10 days ago. I didn't fall, but my crutch skidded and I jammed my operated leg hard onto the ground to keep my balance.
4 days later I woke in agony and couldn't move my leg because of the pain. I was xrayed in a and e and told that there was no dislocation and no fracture.
Now, 5 days later, I'm trying to get back to where I was with short walks and exercising.
But if it still hurts in 3 weeks time I shall ask for a 2nd opinion! So, yes, if I were you, I'd try and see your physiotherapist or your consultant, just for peace of mind.
Best of luck with it all.

Hi, Sorry to hear this. My consultant told me that I had to very careful after I saw him at 8 weeks. This is because you are now feeling a lot better and doing more, so more likely to over do things. By having a false joint we are now more pre-desposed to soft tissue damage, and it will be very painful. He told me if i did do this, I would be back to see him convinced that I would have done damage to my joint but most likely it will be soft tissue damage. This take time to heal so rest up and I am sure that this is probably what you have done, but to put mind at rest do go back and check.
