Is there such thing? I had a d dimer test on the 4th and it came back negative. I'm wondering if it could have been a false negative? Or could my d dimer go uo within those two weeks?
I got another d diner test at my doctors office today and I'm going to call Friday to see if the results are in but I'm still afraid I could have a PE although I haven't gotten one before even though my d dimer was slightly elevated twice before.
Ok, this could be the latest reply ever.., but it might help someone, somewhere.
My youngest son had a negative D Dimer at the dr's surgery 4 years ago when he had a very noticeable DVT (later confirmed by a scan).
i had a negative D Dimer test at the Dr's surgery in November 14 when I attended with calf pain. I then attended A+E three weeks later when my calf was more swollen and had a positive D Dimer (no DVT found with the scan but I went on to have numerous PE's two months later.
i was told that the hospital D Dimer tests are very accurate (they take a lot of blood away for testing. The Dr's testing kits give an indication and are 80-90% accurate (if they are taking a pin prick of blood and using the testing kit at the surgery).
hopefully all is well with you now
Hi, My blood test from the hospital was also negative. My symptoms were severe pain in my back and side when breathing. The PE could be seen on the scan and X-Ray.
This was my first and only clot as far as I know. I am about 6 weeks in and taking the pills which I think I will be on for 6 months.
Good luck
If its any help,
is it possible for old clots that have not dissolved, break off due to exercise and settle in lungs/anywhere and deprive tissue of oxgenised blood, causing pain, discomfort, dead tissue and scarring?
