Fast heart rate, is this anxiety?

Hi all. I'm a 21 year old male. I am from Australia and currently in the US for a holiday. I suffer from insomnia and anxiety. I take 7.5mg of mirtizapine and 100mg of largactil every night. Due to my insomnia and jet lag, I have not slept since I the day I left for my flight back home. I bought some meletonin and that didn't work, have tried sleeping pills in the past and they didn't work too well. I don't really feel that tired but at the moment I have a fast heart/pulse rate. I'm feeling a bit jet lagged too as I feel I'm still on the plane a bit. I posted on a insomnia Facebook group saying that my heart/pulse has been racing and I have tried relaxing to calm it down, yet my mind feels calm, yet my heart/pulse is still racing. One person said its extreme anxiety. I did go to a heart doctor about this 2 years ago but tests said nothing was wrong with me. Since I'm visiting a foreign country and my dad has travel insurance, what can I do? I don't want go on like this as I want to enjoy my trip. My insomnia has been pretty extreme too since for some reason I just don't feel tired and if I do fall asleep, I will wake up in less than 5 minutes.

Yes I have it too.. A couple months ago it was real bad but I've gotten it under control through diet and meditation and exercise. Diet is the biggest (avoid stimulants like Sugar/Salt/Big meals) Having big meals increases blood pressure so naturally the heart beats faster to process the food.. But if your an anxious person.. That racing heart can make you more anxious causing the adrenaline rush which can make your heart race for hours if you don't know how to control it. Same with stimulants like caffein and sugar.. They can make you anxious which will increase heart rate which can make you constantly anxious. So stay away from all of that + alchohol which will make anxiety worse in the longrun.

Exercise will help release endorphins (feel good chemicals ) which helps prevent anxiety. Also magnesium is a relaxant mineral which helps heart rhythm and stops a lot of palpitations.. I would eat more magnesium rich foods or get a supplement.

Sometimes when the racing heart is real bad.. Laying on my side while playing games on my phone help get my mind off it. But meditation will be the best if your having panic attacks from it. And to prevent it. If it's really getting to you.. Just go to a walk in clinic they are all over the US and cheaper than a doctors office or hospital

Could it be the medication Liam, years ago I went down that route, I suffer from anxiety,

I was on medication and I couldn't sleep doctor tried telling me it was depression and that was causing my insomnia as he said it's like an umbrella, it causes a lot of things and told me to stay on it for a couple of months,

I went weeks without sleep, I came off the medication and my sleep returned, hope this helps
