Fast heart rate

Yesterday I was just going about my business at home as normal, not feeling panicking or anything when all of a sudden my heart just suddenly started racing. I have had palpitations before but they usually go away after a few seconds but this lasted about 10 minutes. I was absolutely freaking out, pacing around everywhere. Once it went away I calmed down and got ready to go out. When I was out it happened again.. I rang 111 and a doctor rang me back, he said it didn't sound serious but I should get a ECG done just to make sure everything is ok. Can I get this done at my GP surgery?

This morning my heart feels normal. But I am aching where I've been so tense all evening and night.

I measured my heart rate and I only got about 95 when it felt at its worse which the doc said was pretty normal.

It's was definitely elevated out of nowhere.

Anyone had anything like this before?

Depending on how old you are your weight loads of factors weigh into it but a normal resting heart rate are between 60-100 beats a minute. Sounds like you had a panic attack. Pacing up and down and rapid heart rate and a over all feeling of dread wanting to go to hospital. Classic panic attacks symptoms they can happen out of the blue without warming and leave you feeling like you have been in the ring with Mike Tyson. The person that called u back from 111 was it a doctor or a nurse? If she was concerned she would of told you to go straight into A&E for a ecg and not delay waiting to see ur gp that could take days and on a Sunday no chance at all. Easier said than done get some rest chill out and take ur mind of it..

Take care keep smiling

Yes it happens to me too and I'm still going through it now. I can be fine one minute then the next thing I know my heart flutters so then I freak out s bit which then causes more panic so my pulse will go up faster. Even tho 95 is normal range it can still freak you out bc regardless your pulse is up so of course you think something is wrong but it's just anxiety panic and over worrying. I hope you start to feel better.

Thank you for your reply.

I am 24 and a normal weight for my height.

It was a doctor that rang me back, he said the quickest way to get it done would be to go to A&E but he didn't really tell me too. My mum is a nurse so I rang her for advice too and she said it will be stress, I've but long moved into a new home with my partner (1st house), and 2 weeks ago I got a new puppy and she's been really hard work. My partner was also away with work for 2 nights and being on my own I found really difficult.

I'm just not sure if waiting to see a GP is a smart idea, I really don't want to go to A&E. I have a walk in health centre where I live that's open today so I think I will go there.

I have a long history of anxiety but and health anxiety but weirdly my heart is never something I've worried about before!

You only give one reading for your heart rate, although above seems low to normal. If you have a monitor it is very important you use it correctly, your GP or Surgery nurse can help with that.

Generally I am concerned, although not a health professional when someone keeps taking their own readings, this seems to become habit forming as people end up taking multiple readings. Anxiety sufferers. You will make yourself Anxious and always worrying. If you have been doing housework and possibly bending etc the heart beat will increase, this is normal as the exertion and blood pressure will be effected as your rise up to quickly, the brain will be effected by a change in blood pressure

If information line has advised a ECG, go to your GP and your Surgery can arrange it for you. Sometimes the test can be performed by your Doctor, or nurse.

Hey,

Yeah everything you are saying sounds just like anxiety. I suffer with bad g, a, d but I also work for the ambulance service how ironic is that I see all the good things and all the bad things daily. Moving house is hard work and having a dog can make it even harder and if youre on your own that can make u feel on edge at the time of an attack. Get your self checked out to put your mind at ease, let me know how u get on

Take care

All the best.

Yes, I actually just posted about this the other day! My heart rate is very fast for seemingly no reason. Everyone assures me I am ok and it is just the anxiety being a b-word. Frightening none the less, isn't it?!
