Hi again ! So I deal with constant anxiety and stress (I think I have anxiety/panic disorder) and with that comes a quick heart rate....... My resting is 85-100, my standing is 100-115, my walking is 115-135, my exercising/cleaning/showering/that sort of thing is 135-145, and when i'm in one of my panic episodes it can be up to 165 !! I've had my heart checked, and most recently did a heart monitor. I was able to capture a panic attack on it, and my heart rate hung out at around 150 for a few minutes. My doctor seemed a bit concerned at first, but when I told him I was having a panic attack at that time he said it was okay. He told me my heart is okay, but if I really wanted to I could try beta blockers. I took one and it made me feel absolutely disgusting, so i'd rather not take those if I don't have to. My blood pressure is already on the lower side (usually around 105/62) and it made it go way too low. Anyone else deal with this ? Any ideas on how to fix it ? The only thing that helps my heart not go crazy is taking Xanax (which my doctor prescribed of course lol !!) but I hate taking that stuff, especially regularly. I don't wanna get hooked you know ? OH also i'm 20 if that makes any difference.
stay away from medications if you can. A rapid heart rate with anxiety will not hurt you. I know how weird it feels but it’s the adrenaline that causes it. When you’re anxious adrenaline is sent out and that speeds up your heart rate. You are young and healthy and you’re gonna be OK
. What I do with the rapid heart rate is listen to something on YouTube that works for me every time. you would search for something called stop panic attacks now and then scroll down to one called don’t panic , its in black bold letters. She guides you through it and my heart rate slows down and I feel a lot more peaceful. It’s a short audio but very effective! Do exactly what she says. next time you were feeling anxious with a rapid heart rate or panicking, listen to it. . Remember, you are not defined by your anxiety symptoms. They are just things that happen but you can learn how to manage them better. Hope you feel better soon!
