Has anybody fasted to cure gastritis or done a liquid diet? I am curious if it would help me out. I am taking 80mg of Nexium a day right now and also pepzin gi. I've been doing this for 2 days with no difference in symptoms yet.
2 days only of PPis and pepzin GI is not enough time to judge whether the medicines are working. Persevere with the medication for a few weeks to see if they help you. I would suggest that fasting or a liquid diet is not a good idea for gastritis because it could cause you to lose weight and may increase heartburn. Limiting or avoiding eating increases hunger pangs and could irritate your stomach lining further. When on strong PPis, they are better taken with food. I took PPis for reflux and always took them with food. Eat several small, bland meals a day and avoid anything spicy, fatty or rich.If you are not lactose intolerant, milk may also help your stomach.

I would look on the label attached to your medicine box/bottle which should give your doctors instructions for taking your medicine.You can also check your patient leaflet for this information. The best time to take your PPIs may vary from person to person and depends on the stomach condition you have. You can also ask your doctor to advise you on this too.
