Gosh as if I can't get even more fed up ....... 8weeks post op been doing excercises and walking up to hour every day since able so keeping as active as possible and got wedding to go to in 2 weeks and feel like a beached whale ! Spent 5 hours today in shops which is hard enough post op let's face it ! Trying stuff on and I feel like I put SO much weight on I'm now home and tearful ! My knee looks puffed up not sure yet if can do heels ! Anyone got a parachute I can borrow to wear
Look a head, be happy for what the surgery has done for you. Try a pantsuit with a long blazer or top, and wear shoes with a 1" heel. You'll look beautiful. Stand tall and proud. No one will judge you. Once you are able to do more you'll be fit again.
Thanks loral just knocked my confidence a bit hey ho as you say I'm fit , well and alive and should be glad to be going to a beautiful family wedding in the lovely lake district (uk) with my equally lovely family .
Hey...its normal to feel a bit rubbish and fed up after major surgery and because you have gained some weight that is what your emotions will latch on to! ........I am no psychologist but I do know this often happens.... For myself I am seven weeks post op and have almost had a melt down because the wooden doors in my house are brown and I need them to be white gloss and I can't do it at the moment!!,! How crazy is that? We have lived in this vicarage for seven years...I have never liked the doors....but now it is a mega issue!,....ha ha ha! Take heart...enjoy your new mobility and strut you stuff (even if there is a bit more stuff than you would like)........oh by the way I am off to B&Q next week for a barrel of white gloss!
Happens to all of us Swindon, I put on 2 stone and have recently joined slimming world to get rid of it.... chin up and I'm sure you will enjoy your wedding whaever you wear. xx
I went to my best friends funeral 2 weeks post op, it was a few hrs drive away, all I could wear on my feet was my riding boots (not zipped on op leg/foot) and on two crutches.
No one bothered and I did not give a hoot! I was there to pay my last respects to a person I loved, who cares what people wear?
And yes, dogs are more portley ;-) since my accident but will sort that out asap. Stop worrying, you will look fine and the weight will go off you and the dog as you get more active.
I know, well, we know that we are so much better of right now - but oh boy, when I get a glimpse of myself ? I don;t recognize her - adding the kilo's prior surgery due to increasing mobility restrictions - then 1st THR and 5 months later the 2nd one - all the while wearing very loose sweat pants ...
we are so hard on ourselves, aren't we?
wear something you feel comfortable in and you will look good -
