Hi all, I am just coming up to 12 months period free, but over the last few months I have had increasing levels of fatigue with a voracious appetite. I also started a much more challenging job around the same time, so wonder if that is part of the problem. I have never slept well, so am quite used to waking repeatedly in the night and now am getting one or two drenching sweats most nights, sometimes with nightmares. My weight has continued to rise, and I had a new hip two years ago which is protesting with increasing stiffness and pain. I just haven't had the time or inclination to exercise. I am otherwise well with no other health problems and have a lovely family. I don't have problems with moods, but feel I may be continuing to spiral downwards physically due to the menopause. My question is would any supplements help me out, and how can I deal with feeling so hungry?
I know you mentioned that you started a new job… But how about swimming or a water fitness class for your hip? I used to take a class at night and found the water really relaxes you and also good for our bodies. There are so many supplements ‘out there’— some help some don’t- you need to try and find something for you. I take turmeric and magnesium at night. I think it helps with aches and pains but I also try to get in the water twice a week as well. Others claim cherry (something) helps or glycosimine helps. As far as the appetite I know before my period I can eat like a cow for a couple days then my appetite goes back to normal. I’m trying to get more protein and plant-based items in my diet but sometimes my body just craves the junk.Take Care and just do your best.
Hi Jools, So welcome to the change…THAT always bugged me, change into WHAT? Well, sometimes you should be careful what questions you ask!! lol…kidding aside, it sounds like you could be craving or stress eating, if you can have many small meals throughout the day it may help and avoid too much salt & sugar(if you TOTALLY deprive yourself, it will make it worse so have a few treats)fiber fills you up, protein is good… if you eat sugary stuff it messes with your blood sugar, caffeine is addicting and you will crash as it wears off starting a bad cycle…keeping your weight under control will help that hip. There are topicals for your hip(diclofenac &etc) OTC anti-inflammatories & some RX meds..ALWAYS ask your Dr first about even OTC treatments…yes, walking, swimming, even light stretching at first, can help get you motivated & keep you from losing range of motion, keeping you moving, do activities with your family/friends!! I have changed to summer nighties in bed, cool sheets, light layers of blankets, use a fan if needed, cool bath, cold packs…your partner/pets, things like thick blankets hold in & create heat(no don’t kick out all your loves, just cuddle a bit less) Always talk to your Dr they may have something to help you like, at home treatments, a Dietician or some physiotherapy…there are MANY supplements but, since they aren’t regulated like meds in lots of places, and they can come from some underdeveloped countries w/o standards of cleanliness or quality control it can be risky, be sure to ask a professional…Good Luck with this, hopefully you get some good fixes for your symptoms…Best Wishes:wedding:![]()
