Have got a "sluggish" heart.Have got fluid on lungs ,swollen ankles and abdomen.Do not usually moan but now 6pm and very uncomfortable.I know after a 3-4 pillow night with window open and tomorrows spironolactone it should deflate but wondered if anyone has tips on how to get comfortable (I am back at cardiologist 26th this month).Sorry about moaning
Oh bless you, you have every right to have a moan - moan away!!! I have had my op to repair a leaky valve 3 years ago, up till then it was pillows galore and up twice every night to cough the fluid up from my lungs. I can now sleep on 2 pillows. This isn't much help to you though! I hope when you go for your apt on 26th that they can sort you out. I really feel for you, keep your chin up - you're a star!
Thanks. Glad you are feeling ok.Not sure if mine is a valve problem.Have had two heart attacks which they said had caused light impairment of left ventricle.Maybe it has moved on but if this is light impairment I"d hate to see next level😂.Am relaxing (??) while watching Wales v Belgium
Hi,
sorry to hear you are having problems. It may be worth you seeing a doctor before your next appointment, if you live in the UK go see your GP, it sounds like you are having an acute exacerbation of heart failure and need more extensive diuretic treatment than spironolactone i.e furosemide.
Best wishes
aa
Thanks.GP rang yesterday about my methotrexate blood results and I mentioned it.She asked when my hospital appt is.Told her and she said she would chase them for report when I have been. They are very careful with diuretics as I have CKD3 and kidneys do not like diuretics so it is usually a gradual increase of dose till my kidneys say stop.Life is fun.Anyway much better this morning-lost 3lb of the 4 I had gained☺☺
Hi,
Glad you are feeling better this morning! ah i understand, that explains your diuretic situation. Best of luck, are you fluid restricted at all to limit how much you can drink in a day?
aa
Am not fluid restricted but to be honest my appetite and desire for frequent cups of dcaff tea has gone out of the window .Good in a way as I have a lot of weight to lose and it is coming off~2lbs a week despite the fluid retention.GP not pleased with the reason for weight loss but is that it is coming down (I can't win☺).Told hubby once they sort me out I shall return to weightwatchers to keep me on track (I would love to have normal bmi by 60;so just under 2 yrs to lose 6&1/2st)One can dream ☺
Hi Gillian,
I feel so sorry for you, not being able to sleep and feeling so short of breath is awfull. I hope you have improve since your last message. I have myocarditis and have experience of having sleepless nights due to palpitations and chest tightness so understand what you are going thro.
good luck with your weight and your heart. God bless and keep strong (so hard to do in the middle of the night). Glynis x
Thanks Glynnis, thanks.Touch wood a bit better today. Been peeing lots and not quite as swollen.Think it will just be a three pillow night without the open window.Hoping and praying it is past the worst.Only another 26days till hospital appt.Mind you 9am is not my worst time of day but have confidence in the hospital team
Haha! Not relaxing at the time but a great result!!
So glad you have improved a bit, hope you manage to sleep well tonight. 26 days must seem forever. Take care. Glynis. X
Three deep pillows and window wide open so not too bad although hubby decamped to spare roomSure the time will fly by-it does when you don't want it to,Gillian ☺
Hi Gillian,
just thinking about you. Hope your breathing has improved and you can now sleep with less pillows.
