Hi guys I had blood test last week. Doctor said my thyroid is going under active but he said I've to wait 3 months for another blood test. I feel like throwing iup everyday and I feel weak. I have anxiety as it is and I am on Prozac 40 MG. I feel dizzy as well sometimes. Can anybody tell me if this is normal. I also get tingly numb feelings as well. I feel so horrible and I'm really upset about it. What should I do? I really need some advice. This is all new to me and I feel absolutely terrible
If your thyroid is underactive there is no reason to wait for medication. Can you share what your bolldwork level is tha caused the diagnosis. You doctor is obligated to tell you. If you can share that here you will get better advice. Go for it.
Hi Rachel, here are some thoughts...
it's generally unknown that Prozac is actually a misclassified drug, as the gut produces a large amount of the serotonin in your body, and Prozac "treats" a lack of serotonin. If the Prozac is working for you, it may be that you have gut issues.
Anxiety is common in hypothyroid patients, you also have nausea, and weakness. Any other symptoms? The nausea and low thyroid could indicate you are gluten intolerant. Now, it's near impossible to go gluten free, so you'll have to do some research on the subject, as pretty much all prepared food is cross contaminated with wheat, and our immune system can detect trace amounts and will react to trace amounts of wheat.
Gut issues are very common in thyroid patients and are best addressed by switching to a grain free, glutenfree paleo style diet- no wheat, rye, barley products, no processed foods, no additives, nothing prepared.
You may well have a thyroid problem, however, medications can interfere with thyroid function, so it's possible, your doc is looking at this. Do an online search for Prozac and hypothyroid disease. This will give you an idea if this is something to be concerned about and may give you information from other patients' experience with Prozac and hypothyroid.
