feel like i stop breathing when falling asleep( only when there is light)

Hello all,

Well so I cannot sleep in the afternoons or when there is sunlights, all though im sleepy some times in the afternoon, as i sleep I feel like I stop breathing and had to fight few minutes to open eyes as I open eyes everything is fine except a bit of a headache.

I don't have this at night and when I close the whole room with thick curtains and no light enter i can sleep well even in the afternoon.

I went to the doctor and he says it nothing, do i have some unique disorder?

Appreciate any help to fix my issue.

I'm the same but I was told I'm always on defensive mode like I have to protect my family and when my mum goes to town (which is every morning) I'm afraid something will happen, its been affecting me for awhile now.

Thanks for your reply. interesting reason, this won't link to my situation though, funny part I sleep a lot over 8 to 9 hours tight sleep.

i had something similar to this and i think it does have something to do w anxiety. after a few days this eventually went away after i stopped taking my anxiety pills. are you taking any muscle relaxants? if this is keeps happening i feel like you should tell your doctor again and that it's bothersome. they could possibly do a sleeping study on you and see what happens as you sleep. but i think that'll be more of a last resort if this doesn't go away. i hope this isn't affecting your sleep too much!

Although I've never felt like I was going to stop breathing, I do have a much harder time falling asleep when there is sunlight.   Do you have generalized anxiety? There could definitely be a factor in why you can't sleep in the light in why you feel like you're going to stop  breathing.

just know one thing for sure, and that is that you will not stop breathing. Our bodies automatically take over breathing when we are sleeping. Breathing is automatic. So is our beating heart.  So that something you definitely don't have to worry about. What I do when I lie down to sleep no matter what time of the day, is listen to audio meditations for sleep found on YouTube. They completely calm me down and many times  I don't get through it all because I fall asleep. Try them! They also have the meditations for anxiety, depression etc. just search for guided meditation for sleep and there are many to choose from.

something that would be great for you to listen to on YouTube is guided meditation for breathing. They teach you the proper way to breathe  so that you are in control in the anxiety. I think if your mind and body were settled down, you'd be able to fall asleep 🌸🌸🌸
