Hi, I was on cit for 10 months, it worked to a degree but the last few months wasn't good at all, I saw my dr he said they've probably done all they could and it's time to change to another med, we decided on sertraline, I've just taken my 9th tablet and I feel I'm getting worse and worse, every day feels worse than the previous, is this normal when taking a new med? I know 'they' say you get worse before you get better but this is the first time I've had some sort of initial side effect from a medication, increased anxiety, suicidal thoughts, constant headaches, tight chest and butterflies in stomach. Can anyone shed any light on this please, many many thanks..... Luke
Hello Luke, I'm sorry you aren't feeling any better?? I remember my boyfriend going on sertraline from fluoxetine (I think it was) and he felt exactly the same his behaviour changed aswell.....The doctor said this was normal and things would settle down but he stopped taking them anyway 
Are you able to contact your doctor to get an emergency appointment or go to the chemist??

Hi luke. .. I'm so sorry you feel the way you do please stay positive .. I can't believe that cit only did the job for 10 month iv been on them for years ..maybe you could have up'd your dose or talked to your doc about it .. your not alone don't ever feel that ok .. its the chemicals in our brains that make us feel these things it's not real but its awful I know .. once you manage to get the stability you need you will see how different things become x x b8g hugs X X X
Hi Jane, I've been on cit since 1997, sometimes on a very low dose just to keep the dizziness away (2.5-5mg) then last summer I was really bad, I wasn't on anyways at all so I asked my dr if I could go back on cit, he said yes and I started in September on 20mg, 2 months later I went up to 30mg then in feb I went up to 40mg. I had a few good periods, but since middle of March it's all been downhill, so back to Drs I went and now I'm on sertraline, 9 days so far, and I'm getting side effects which I'm a bit pleased about as I never got them on cit, I hope and pray sert can do the trick for me.
