Feel like I’m gonna have a heart attack or panicking If got lung cancer....

Morning...

For the past week or so I’ve had almost like an achy chest/heart & back if that makes sense...the ache in my back is like a pulled muscle/slept funny ache that is there if I move or breath. My chest feels tight like I can’t breathe & I get random twinges near my left armpit/breast, in the middle of my chest & under my rib cage. My heart feels like it’s pumping really hard, if I lay on my side it feels like it’s gonna pump through my rib cage! And I get like the twingy feelings in my heart too I think...

I’ve suffered with HA for nearly 3 years now & initially it was focused around my headaches to begin with but these are now controlled with propranolol which is meant to help the anxiety too but in actual fact, I think it’s making this issue with my heart/chest worse as I read the side effects are similar to asthma & cos it’s a beta blocker I think my hearts gonna just stop...

Any advice/tips on moving past this current crisis/fixation?

Many thanks

Hi Jade,

Your heart is not ready to stop

Irregular heartbeat / palpitations can be a byproduct of anxiety.

Propanolol is a beta blocker and slows the heart rate to stop anxiety panics.

The back and chest contain thousands of interlinked muscle fibres all of which can produce aches when stretched injured or compressed.

The diaphram (rib cage) is constantly expanding and contracting , and stretching / contracting the muscles which can cause aches and pains.

Ask your doc if you can have a 24 hour ambulatory ECG (a little box that is attached to pads on your chest to monitor heartbeat) you can still do everything normally during those 24 hours. That will show any heart rate irregularity if present.

HA is a real #####! As it self perpetuates symtoms then more anxiety.

Be strong, you'll be fine
