Hi All Am lying in bed at 4.23 am with terrible chest burning, nearest my throat. Have been dropping off to sleep and waking and it's still there. My feet have been numb and pins and needles all day. So sick of this. I have had loads of tests - xrays, MRI, endoscopy, ECGs and all came back clear so have accepted that it's anxiety but i feel so awful. i don't want meds but how can i make this stop. Am doing CBT online and Dr is referring me to see a therapist face to face but don't know how long this will take. Am at my wits end.
Anxiety is a horrible condition I must say.
Today I thought I was loosing my mind for hours, so frightening.
I have had all the bloods etc all negetive, so they put it down to Anxiety, easy cop out for the doctors.
I am on Mirtazipine 30mg , for 3/4 weeks now, but see no improvement at all.
I hear what your saying re the chest burning near your throat, I get a tight throat very often, you think you are going to choke etc, not pleasant.
I had the scope down the throat, but they said just reflux causes the cough, trying to clear it, so I got Omeprozol, which is not much good.
You might need to consider medication, along with the Cbt, which I am still waiting on, you may get some relief..hope you feel better..
with regards to your chest burning near your throat, sounds like you have acid reflux which is very common with anxiety. Have you talked to your doctor about that? there’s over the counter medication you can take but you might want to consult your doctor first. The medication also protects your esophagus from the acid.
Also, instead of eating three large meals, eat five or six small meals a day.
when you sleep, prop your head up on a pillow so you are not flat because that’s how the acid comes up.
when you start therapy, continue to go for as long as you can. Just let everything out that is causing you anxiety so that the therapist can help you.
have you thought about what in your life is causing you anxiety? That’s another thing you can share with the therapist. In the meantime while you’re waiting for the appointment, do you things to relax your mind. I do whatever I want to do with or without symptoms. I pretty much ignore any symptoms because if I paid too much attention to them they get worse. You can also find some soothing meditations made for anxiety on YouTube. I like to listen to them when I lay down to sleep I generally fall asleep before they are over. If I wake up in the middle of the night I put another one on.
i really hope you feel better soon. Anxiety is something that can be managed although it may not completely go away, you will still feel a lot better and not worry so much about it. Take care
