Hello Friends: I am 2 weeks post op lthr today. I have no pain. I also had a hip fracture that had to be repaired and my down time will take longer because of it. I am starting to feel a little discouraged, a little down. I am trying to take this a day at a time but when I think about the duration and the precautions left in place; it's beginning to get to me. Anybody else experiencing this? Love to you all.
Hi Cindy,
I had a RTHR on 4th of May and have been quite positive until the last 24 hours when I've been a bit fed up! I know it's ridiculous to expect so much, so soon but I can't help it, and I don't have the added complications you have.
Take care and big hugs!
Fiona

Hi. I had thr on 28th April so almost 3 weeks. My pain has got tons better over last few days and even tho I feel like im slowly improving - I just don't feel like I will ever be able to walk normally. I do my exercises every day and walk and down to one crutch but my leg just does not have any strength in it to walk unaided. It's so frustrating ! Does this come all of a sudden or am I asking too much . I know how you feel about all the precautions too - I feel like a prisoner in my own body 😐
Hi Cindy - I had my LTHR on 7th May and know how you feel. I am frustrated as my leg and foot keep swelling badly which m akes my leg ache... also have some pulling in the groin, which is sore! But its the slow progress that is so frustrating. I am hobbling sometimes on one crutch, but suffer later if I do too much of this. Pretty confident everything will improve over time, but as a fitness instructor, I'm really hoping I get back to bein able to teach my classes in the next 10 weeks or so.... Good luck with your recovery... Freda xx
dear lovely fellow hippies,
it sounds so familiar. ..first the euphoric state of no more OA pain...
then the niggles, discomfort, walking around. ..
et voila, now we are getting impatient. ..
may I remind you that you just had major surgery where your leg / hip was forcefully manipulated to dislocate the joint.
protheses had to be banged in after thorough preparation of cavities. ..
not only physically but also emotionally you're going to be in a roller coaster. ..
it is all part of the journey. ..
so always come here whenever you want ,for support and encouragement and understanding. ..
you are doing so great, ,,
be very gentle with your self
big warm hug
Renee 💙
Thank you Renee - a lovely gentle reminder that we are being a tad impatient... :-) xx
Your replies are very positive and sweet
I guess it's normal to feel discouraged - at almost wk 3 the pain is so much better and weird not to have oa pain - but just keep getting this overwhelming feeling of frustration and worry that I won't be able to walk without a stick as no matter how I try my leg just doesn't feel it has the strength to hold me up x
Hi Cindy,
Be kind to yourself, you will find things slip into place, one day you cannot do it, next you can. There's no hurry to get it all over and done with pretty quick, it will happen. As for the emotions, hey, they play havock with you. take care.
As usual you are right you do get this hip replacement so right Renee l agree l think Cindy is expecting everything to be easy from now on but cindy hun its a huge op and although we do get rid of the OA pain. You still have to heal and it won't happen overnight or in a week or month. I am 43 had both hips replaced within 3 months and l am 12 weeks from my last op and l am still healing it does get hard and you get down weeks and up. I want so much to be normal and back at work but l cant cause l am not ready but in that 3 months l have got better l caan walk 2 miles l can drive do housework and shopping but its very much still there that l sm healing. Like l cant sleep in my bed for a full night. So keep your chin up cindy and try to be a lot more patient as you are going to have to be.

Oh dear gilly,
of course your leg is not strong enough. ..but it will be. ..
have you seen the video on YouTube of THR surgery. ..not for the weak of stomach. ..
After I had watched it, I was in awe of my body and her healing capacity. ..
OK, it takes her a loooong time (grumpffffffff ),but she is dealing with 2 THR surgeries.
it is perfectly fine to allow yourself to get frustrated, upset, sad, angry etc ...
relax a bit ....
all is well
angel blessings

Hi Cindy
im 12 weeks and still have my restrictions, I'm hoping to get them taken off this week. It really is a roller coaster, and I'm still on it! One day you feel good because of some movement you have achieved, next you feel down because you think you'll never be able to do things.
Trust me,! it will get better love. A week makes a huge difference when you are able to look back. Hang in there! Hugsxx
