Have any of the long time recoveries had any of the feeling come back on the skin on the far side if the knee. I'm 12 weeks and I think it's just beginning to come back
Mine feels normal again. I'm six months post surgery. My scar feels itchy sometimes.
hi
your so lucky I'm 22weeks and I still have no feeling on the outside of my knee
my GP said it might never come back

I am at 3 months with one TKR and all of my knee has feeling back since about 8 weeks. My one year old knee still has a numb patch. Go figure!
Mary
Mine is just starting to come back at 10 weeks.
I did a bit of reseach into dry skin brushing to help with circulation and nerve stimulation and it seems it can help. For the last 2 weeks I've been brushing every second day starting from the toes and going all the way up to the top of the leg and then into the shower to wash of the brushed skin. I also massage cocoa butter around the knee and incision. I think it is helping as I'm starting to get tiny amounts of sensation on random spots on the lateral side of my incision (and itching).
The bonus is that even if it doesnt really help, at least my skin looks and feels amazing as I now brush as much of my body as I can reach!
if you wish to try it you should discuss it with your GP first as apparently people with certain conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, skin that is broken, non-healed wounds, or skin infections shouldn't do it.
Im 18 weeks + 6 and still have some numbness just under the patella. Im not really bothered by it as 8 years ago I badly fractured my ankle and there is part of my foot still numb. As everything is functioning well I know the nerves in my knee will repair themselves
I am two years down the line and still feel numb on the outside of both knees. I just took it that it was how everyone was! It doesn't really put me out but I do have pain and when I first stand up I have to wait beforee moving off.
