I was diagnosed in august after being stressed out.. they Dr gave me Valtrex and it worked wonders.. I didn't think I would survive without it! There was alot of pain burning and overall discomfort.. the dr started me on the Valtrex and within a couple days I coukd feel a difference I could actually sit on a hard surface without feeling horrible.. I'm still trying to figure out if this has been dormant in my sister for years or if I just contracted it good luck!
You should get an official diagnosis first (one that includes a type-specific swab test), rather than trying out all the meds based solely on your own self-diagnosis. It might be herpes, but it might not be, you never know.
Thays the best advice! However, I went to my doctor and had two negative tests while presently having outbreaks. A swab test and a blood test. I had to wait until another outbreak and have them swab the sores again for a positive result
Yeah, that can happen, especially with a viral culture swab. Pcr swab much less likely. Even so, the traditional swab picks up more than it misses, so is still worth doing (either or), imo.
