I'm 3 weeks post total right hip replacement I'm doing very well mobility wise I'm only using one crutch about the house. I've even started doing my own housework with caution. I had my clips removed last Friday and was told the wound looked very good but was oozing slightly so my G.P put me on antibiotics. I went to see the nurse for my follow up and she said the wound was infected. Now Im really upset. She just told me to come back next week.I have no idea what kind of infection. No swab was taken. Has anyone else had this problem?
I expect that they assumed it was a Staph infection and put you on flucloxacillin, it will probably do the job. If it does not get better go back and insist on a swab.

well, the good thing is that they are on it -
Of course it upsets you - it is not something you want to happen eventhough it is not unusual -
were all staples taken out and did they put dressing on it ? Mine was not completely healed and it took a week or so to have a scab formed -
It is part of the healing process, Andrea ... not much you can do about it but surrender and accept that this is so ...
