Feeling hip

Daft question! Does anyone feel as though they can feel their new hip?

Yeah I can sometimes feel mine it feels heavy sometimes.

Yes!  I'm 6 weeks post op and I feel like I've got a cricket ball in there lol!

I've decided it's just the scaring inside and any residual swelling / bruising as I'm sure they didn't really use a cricket ball!

Hi paula am four weeks post op, mine feels like a lead weight, but been out today n used only one crutch, am well pleased with myself. X

Hi, My LTHR was following an accident in which I also sustained other multiple fractures, I can not only feel my prosthesis, I can see exactly where it is in my leg. I am slim and fit (well was prior to accident) but I have now got my head round it. The more you walk/do your exercise, the better it gets.

All will be well, take care and have a good recovery. Dot

Absolutely!  Right down where the top of the scar is.  Also in the front of the thigh.

Yes 8 weeks post op here and I can feel mine in my bum cheek a lot. I have come the the conclusion that is is just muscle spasms and to do with healing. Was scary when it first happened I thought it had fell out the socket

Do u get spasms at night, I do but still got to lay on my back for another 2wks.

yes I do. It sounds as though you are 1 week ahead of me. I have a cold flannel and run it up and down my legs and let it dry naturally. It helps a great deal. xx

Ok I will try that, when am in bed my whole leg spasms, wonder if its a damaged nerve. Xx

I feel my hip clicking, it very strange first time I felt I was worried that I had done something

Not daft at all,  my super annoying cannonball has morphed into a mildly annoying golf ball.  Hoping for an eventual cherry pit.

Did it feel as if it was clicking

No. When ive got my leg straight in bed it sometimes shakes on its own, its a weird sensation.

How do you find sleeping I hate really do detest sleeping on back I am lucky if I get a good 3 hours continuous sleep I have been given a mild sleeping tablet and they don't really work, I have just taken some nytol nightlife and see if that will help

Hi Paul

Yes I get spasms at night. I also get involentry movement in my legs and now my right hip is collapsed it is worse than ever and hurts like hell.

Am the same hate sleeping on my back, I only get 2-3hrs uninterrupted sleep. I've always slept on my side until hip op.

LOL on your comments - I feel the hardware too ... the hip ball in socket and thigh rod ... at least that's what i think I feel - and it is tender to the touch too ... xray showed that everything is in place and healing nicely ... our body is working so hard to accept and heal the "invaders" - send love to it - all is well - big hug

Yes! I am just over 12weeks post op and still feel bruised! But hope that gentle swimming as I suffer from stress and tension! So hope it will help! Also I am having reflexology as well! Anyway good luck regards Amanda
