So been to the doctors this morning an due to all the anti inflammatory my kidneys now are only working 50% Which as made me really dwn. So he as now give me amitriptyline 10mg an tried to get me appointment for the rheumatology but at the moment no appointments available 😢. am in so much pain this last week an feeling like I can't cope an it's killing me because my poor family dnt no how to help me other than do everything for me so heartbreaking 💔💔 xx

May I ask how old are you? Is there kidney problems in your family?
Do they think they can repair the damage? Are they talking about dyalisis?

Hi misssy am 36 an no there isn't an kidney problems in my family. doctor said its due to the tablets.
I have to go back in 6-8 weeks for blood tests to see if it's healing itself
At the moment they haven't mentioned dyalisis yet think there hoping for it to repair it self 😢

I'm glad they told you what it was related to (the tablets)...and I'm glad you have hope to have them rejunivate...you are young so that is in your favor...more reslient!
I've done much damage to my body....and I am very lucky to have "normal" organs at this time. A month ago...my pancreas was very inflammed...kidneys and liver acting up from over drinking....Do you drink?
Do you drink alot of water? If NOT....start drinking alot of water...I can't tell you how important the Drs stressed to me it was for ME to drink water to help repair organs...grab a glass of ice water now and drink cranberry juice for your kidney.
Did they tell you that?
It's hard for partners in it as they struggle to see us in the way we are.
At this moment I feel like a so old it's horrible I was so active always worked and takin my dogs out on my gym an nw it's a effort to get out of bed..
I do drink no an then but not exseverly. I drink about 5l a day of water as I can't drink fizzy drinks or coffee due to caffeine and sugar effects my intersitias cysits
No my doctor didn't explain anything to me about which was frustration I also love cranberry juice an drink that a lot also drink multi vitiams drinks as well xx

You will be ok...the sooner the better (when they catch this stuff)......I would not drink any alcohol.....or limit caffiene to very little....kidneys and liver hate these two things.

Hi Kirsty , tell me about it , same old story , no appts , my consultant up and left cancelled her clinic , and now we are all waiting to be referred YET AGAIN , telling me there is no money in the nhs , dosnt help us who are in pain and distress , they want to try being in our place sometime !!!!!, .do you take your anti inflammotory after your food? or perhaps get the Dr to give you omeprazole they put a lining on your stomach , as I take daily aspirin I had to take that for a while , and also I take a glass of milk before i take my tabs , seems to help ! I use a walking stick , cant tell you how many times I have flung it across the floor in sheer desperation and frustration , I was quite active , its upsetting we cant do at the moment all the things we use to do , but dont give up , where theres a will there is a way,

Hi lubyloo that's disgusting how can ppl be treated like that so unfair isn't it we get ppl get treated so bad.
I always eat b4 I take them my husband always made sure of it I am on omprazole been on them for a year. I can't drink milk it makes me Bork haven't been able to drink since I was a child.. O I no ur frustration I dnt have a stick but not being able to walk or the newest thing is can't even brush my teeth without the pain.. I am trying to be so positive but it's so hard in it xx
Poor you Kirsty..just dont get it from the country I live in..it just never happens..if you need to see a specialist you see one...??? I've been on Amithriptilyne for over 20years now..it's all I I take/need for Fibro...I take 25 mg at night between 6-8..it takes my pain away..better still it gives me a great nights sleep....it did take the doctor a while..like 2 years to get me on the right dose ...I was started out on 50mg...much too strong...like a zombie all day...then 10mg.,,not enough...It does take a little while to settle in your system..that's why it took soo long to get my dosage right ...but we are all different..some people on here take10mg it's enough for them..sometake 75mg..I'd be the walking dead...we are just soooo different..do hooe you get to see a Rhumo soon, they usually diagnose Fibro...be blessed kisty, have a lovely day..:-) xxx

It's so bad with the nhs it's a joke. Well I took my 1st one last night but didn't really see any difference but I weren't expecting noting on the 1st time of taking them. I am hoping this appointment comes through soon just even to get the diagnose thanks christiene xx
Hi Kirsty; I don't want to be another problem for you, (and yes, I take Amitriptylline too); but if you are already having problems with your kidneys not working to full capacity, perhaps you may need to read the side effects of Amitriptyline too, as it can decrease the working of the kidneys..............also I feel that maybe you are taking in too much fluid (you say you are drinking appros 5 litres per day)....our body really only needs 1500 - 2 litres on an average.....so if your kidneys are not filtering at optimum capacity, this maybe an overload for them??? Did your GP/primary carer comment re your 50% kidney functions? has there been a mention of referring you to a Urologist/kidney specialist? This I feel is a must for you, as if not treated now, will be a big issue in the future.......perhaps it may be helpful for you to do some researching on many web-sites and get as much information as possible and take this information to your GP.........Bron

im on Amitriptline I'm now only on 75mg a day (1 in morning 2 at night) was on 150mg a day. Yes not good. But they did help a lot, for the pain an depression, an they do help you sleep too, I hope that bit of info does help, I've had fibo 10yrs or more. And so wished more people under stood it, especially my sons! But good luck and hope not too long await for your appointment x
Hi bron thanks for replying my husband read the side effects last night an seen this so I dnt think it would be wise for me to take them. I will not be drinking as much now either I get a dry mouth a lot so think that's why I tend to drink as much.
I am already under the urologist team as have been for some months now I have recently had a scan as well on kidneys so have to wait for the results of them.
I will do that as my go didn't really tell me nothing about it apart from it weren't good an that I have to go bak in a couple of weeks to get bloods done again xx
