I am almost three weeks post op hip replacement. I feel I'm doing well regarding my hip but I get chills and sweats, dizziness and feeling sick on times. Has anyone experienced anything like this please? I just can't work it out.

Hi Cindy-
At 3 weeks post-op, THR patients typically feel stable and energetic. You have something else going on. Could be surgery-related complications; could be flu, could be a lot of things. Gotta get yourself back to the doctor's office and get it checked out.
Good luck.
dear cindy,
warm welcome to the forum of hippies where personal stories and experiences are shared ..
3 weeks post-op from such a major surgery is really still early on in the healing division .. did you have the posterior or anterior approach ?
what kind of anesthesia did you chose?
what kind of ain medication are you taking?
how is your bloodpressure?
do you have a fever?
I was not feeling well for quite a while - sweating (especially at night), chills - almost felt I had the flu - dizziness and feeling sick at stomach was on and off -
I had to self inject Fragmin blood thinners for 6 weeks and that was one of the reasons for my unhappiness, I was told ...
My bloodpressure was all over the place, with high peaks and deep valleys ..
how is your appetite ? are you hydrated?
maybe see your doctor to get peace of mind -
I am happy to read that your hip is doing well ...
be gentle with yourself -
big warm hug

Thank you Renee for your warm welcome. I really hadn't thought of it like that. Yes I do inject every day four weeks all together. I'm on pain relief but only take it now morning and night. Pre op I had to come off my HRT and I stoped smoking after 45 years, I didn't intended to but having gone 3 days in hospital I tried to carry on and haven't smoked now for 19 days. I guess it all piles up. I did wonder if it was from overdoing things but in truth no one indicated how much I should or shouldn't do. At least I'm not the only one and your comments have been most helpful. Thanks so much xx
Hi again, have been reading about the side effects of the injections and you are right they are what I am experiencing. Will ring my GP in the morning. Many thanks it's something I hadn't thought of. Xx
you are welcome - this is why this forum is so great because I was told by a forum member as well ..
Congratulations on non smoking .... That is a big deal !!!!
angel blessings and please keep in touch
