Over the past 4 years my right wrist has needed 2 surgeries as I hurt it bad playing sport. This meant while it was healing I put a lot of pressure on my left hand to complete most tasks. I play a fair bit of video games and my bar work requires me to use my hands a lot. Over the past few months my left wrist has started becoming really sore after work, gaming, weight lifting ect. I have no idea if its early signs of arthritis or carpel tunnel but I would like to know what exercises, certain foods I can eat or other ways I can slow down the process of me actually getting either of these medical conditions. Thanks.
I have several painful joints including my wrists. A referral to the NHS Occupational Therapist resulted in a couple of sessions of wax bath treatments and a pair of wrist supports which I have found very comforting as long as I remember to put them on before embarking on stressful bouts of housework and gardening. I have also bought myself a Therabath, ( Google it ) not cheap ( around £225.00 )but a good investment and the OT approved of my choice. Nether of these is a cure, of course, but they are a comfort.
John!
I would do the R.I.C.E. method for starters! Rest (when you can), Ice (3-4 times/day for at least 15 mins), Compress (with a brace any time you are using it, esp at work!) and Elevate (as often as possible, even while sleeping). Also, have you tried any supplements like collagen? Collagen is SO GOOD for joint health and it’s something that naturally starts diminishing from your body in your 20s so now is the perfect time to start replenishing! And, when the pain being worse after work, I would take ibuprofen before work to decrease the inflammation and pain from all that activity.
