My right foot is still swollen after 5 weeks but just lately I have noticed the left one swells by the evening
Hi Marilyn, My feet swell to just means you need to rest but your feet up raised above your heart and drink lots of water , and watch your sodium in take . Some of us swell more than others . hope that helps thats what my doctor said.
take care

Hi marilyn
If you go to bed at night and the swelling has not gone down at all you need to contact your surgeon. I have 2 v pillows made of memory foam. They are hard and I can put them under my matress or lay them on top of the matress and put my feet up. This helps alot with any swelling. But you must make sure your feet are above your heart for it to work.
Good morning Marilyn .... How badly swollen are they? I am 13 weeks post op and notice some swelling too - (sock imprints (cold feet!!!) ) - I know that I am not drinking enough water because of anxiety about needing to go to the bathroom every 15 minutes when I am out and about ... but it is nothing compare to what it used to look like in the weeks following THR ... and I need to watch my sodium intake as well .... but when in doubt, please contact your doctor .....
big hug
Hi Marilyn,
I found mine went as I started walking gently, initially around the house, then outside on flat even surfaces, Early days, it should all settle down soon. I agree with raising legs when you are sitting down, not too high though and do not lean forward to get a things, the hip angle becomes too narrow.
9 weeks now and all my swelling has gone, I am doing muscle building excercises, stairs, driving, shopping, cooking, had a holiday which included a short flight, going for walks...
chin up! slow and steady is the motto and get plenty of rest..........
